$100 million? That's surely not right.

It's probably not that she has personally collected $100 million. That figure is more likely the total of the merchandise, endorsements, etc all rolled into a projected "value". I don't watch TV, so I don't know if Grumpy Cat is in any commercials or anything like that. I'm just taking an educated guess here.

              They've announced a movie, I heard somewhere.

I've heard that number a few places. The claim I've heard is that she has "earned" $100m over the past two years.

My guess is that she is like any random lotto winner and will be living on the street in under five years. A 29 year old waitress going from minimum wage to $50m per year overnight is very, very unlikely to not fall apart under the change.

Financial planners are often the ones that cause your money to go away. Very hard to hire a good one.

Seen that happen more than once. Unfortunately the legal fees make it hard for the average person to seek restitution.

I've purchased a few pieces of that merchandise for Christmas gifts for s relative that has a cat problem. So she can thank me for a tiny bit of that fortune.

The thing they did right was to hire a professional marketer to help them with merchandising and appearances. That's why grumpy cat has millions of dollars and Scumbag Steve doesn't.
