Laptop for stock trading

My co-worker asked me about a fast laptop that can handle trading. This what he was thinking of getting, Dell G7 17 Gaming Laptop.
If you were looking into doing stock trading, what would be the best laptop that is reliable for stock trading.

The laptop will not be his problem. Nothing there will so so slow as to be a bottleneck. It will be more on his internet connection.
To my understanding, low latency is what that is all about. Obviously, you need a good machine to not have hardware latency. But all powerful systems today have that.
I hate the gaming systems from dell. They are typically oversold crap, priced up because they tagged it “gaming.”

As someone who worked in stock trading, there is essentially zero client side processing. A tablet or phone even will work just fine as long as the user has enough screen real estate.

I think if you pitched one of those laptops with build in folding dual screen, would be better than gaming laptops.

In the past we've had good experience with HP Omen laptops for workstation use and they were cheaper than similar spec "workstation" laptop. But why not get a desktop instead and a good monitor, at least 27" but preferably larger?
Also in the past you had to go with a gaming laptop to get a four core CPU because earlier gen i7 where just much slower 2 core CPUs. But now you can get 4 core CPUs in standard ultrabook or similar format.
Desktop CPUs are not at all the same as the mobile versions. They can use more power and they are much faster.
Small format desktops like Intel NUC and the small ones from HPE and Dell use mobile CPUs though.

That kind of information should be accessible 24/7, if you're really going to rely on it. Which makes a laptop a bad choice. Analytics aren't really meant to be run occasionally.
I would guess there are better alternatives out there that can be run on Linux servers

Couple thoughts..
I think 1/2 my trades are issued from my cell phone. (Generally when I"m selling vested RSU or ESPP). It's convenient as I've got my 2FA token on my phone. As others have noted actual trading doesn't drive much. A lot of traders (like the local energy trading floors) use thin clients.
This isn't stock trading which implies your roommate is a moron who should be putting money in a 401K, HSA, a Roth or maybe some index funds if he's feeling frisky and needs liquidity on a shorter time table.
quantumtrading is a dynamic currency risk indicator program for forex trading. My general viewpoint is only the absurdly well capitalized (triple comma club) have any business trading currency for anything other than hedging other positions (and even then there are other ways to hedge currency like JNUG, or just buying treasuries).
If your roommate is serious about YOLO currency trading using 1000x leverage, I might want to direct him to the best place for such

@black3dynamite I'm an experienced Forex and Quantum support person (I headed the Forex team for the largest Forex player on the planet, that handled as a client the US government itself) and trust me, if your friend things Forex is stock trading, they need to get out NOW. They are in way, way over their heads.

All enterprise Forex software runs on Linux (and generally UNIX, and nothing else.) On the Forex floors they sometimes use Windows desktops, but all the analytics comes from UNIX systems (including Linux.) Windows is only used as a GUI for the trades to be places, and generally isn't used even for that.
