Zabbix on CentOS7 - MariaDB or PostgreSQL?
-
Is there any preference when choosing a DB for Zabbix on CentOS7? I have seen people ask, "Which one are the admins most comfortable with"? If the answer is neither or either, does anything else come into play?

Both work just fine. Both are very enterprise. What you already run and are comfortable with will play the biggest role in deciding. Also, how big will this installation be? MariaDB shines for smaller installs, PostgreSQL really shines for giant ones.

Thanks for the info. It is definitely a smaller install.
@JaredBusch also said either would be fine and that MariaDB was a good choice because of the information available on it, due to the fact that everything that applies to MySQL, applies to MariaDB.

yeah, MariaDB is a higher performance, fully open source drop in for MySQL from the creators of MySQL.

@wrx7m this is why there is "less" information out there. There are fewer people doing things that need it. Thus it is used less. Thus less public info.
On the other hand, there is likely less shit info "out there" for it too..

LOL. That is also a good point about there being less shit info out there.

I've done both. I tend to like MariaDB / MySQL better because that is what I'm more comfy with.
