Windows Server 2019 Basic Installation
-
Installing Windows Server 2019 is very straightforward. While several installation options exist, the standard, manual installation is the most common and self explanatory. This method is identical whether installing physically to a device or as a virtual machine on top of a hypervisor. It is graphical based and walks you through a few simple steps.
Choosing a language is very straightforward.
No idea why this pure "Ok" screen is included.
Here you can choose whether to install Standard or Datacenter licensing, and if you want the recommended pure installation (Core as it is often called) or to include the GUI (aka Desktop Experience.) While most people install the desktop experience to give themselves a Windows desktop GUI, Microsoft has been pushing more and more than GUI-less is their intended use method for servers.
You will need to accept the Windows license (aka EULA.)
This is the one confusing screen that Windows installations have always included. Even though OS "Upgrades" are generally not recommended as good process, Microsoft considers them the "normal" installation method. This only applies when you are upgrading an already installed Windows OS of Windows 2016 or older.
Nearly always you will need to select the Custom (advanced) option, this is the only option for doing an install. Why installing Windows is considered an "advanced" task, when in reality it is the only task most should ever do, is someone no one understands. For all intents and purposes selecting Custom is the only option you should need.
Select the location where Windows will be installed. This is your chance to add any additional drivers that might be required for your storage (and you can install other non-storage drivers at this point as well.) In many cases, you will simply need to accept the defaults at this time. But this is the one significant point of customization in the installation process. You can modify drive partitioning now if you need, for example.
Now we get some coffee and chill.
When the installation is all complete, you are either given a GUI login, or if doing the standard GUI-less install (as we assume you will normally do in this course) you will be given a command prompt where you can set your administrator password.
Worth noting, in Windows Server 2019, cmd.exe remains the default shell and PowerShell is still the optional shell for initial logins.

It seems identical to Windows 2016 .

In almost every way. Even after you install it, it feels identical.

Pretty much is, because 16 is when they changed to core installer to look like this.
-
Also, 2016 was just really good. Not much purpose in changing it. Other than wishing they didn't call "Installing" words like "Custom" and "advanced", I think it is roughly as good as it is going to get.

Yeah, that stupid screen has been around since XP I think.
The current install method brings Windows Server on parity with the Linux ecosystem really. You install, choose some options and end up at a prompt after reboot. Then you remotely add the features and shit you want.

Yeah, very in like with Fedora, Ubuntu, or Deepin. Deepin might still be my favourite installer for normal stuff of the four.

Did you have a Deepin install screenshot chain on here?

No, but I do it so often, it would be easy to get.

Nice though.
