Frustration with Office 2016 and MS Project Pro 2016

@travisdh1 said in Frustration with Office 2016 and MS Project Pro 2016:
Brand new computer. Office 2016 32-bit installed. Go to install Project 2016 32-bit and I get the error "We cant' install the 32-bit version of Office because we found the following 64-bit programs on your PC: Office 16 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component 64-bit"
It looks to me like that Click-to-Run is that thing Microsoft includes with every Windows 10 that I had removed, and came back in an update even tho the computer already had Office Home and Business 2016 installed.
Now it says I don't have permission to uninstall it, even tho I've disabled the "Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Service" Turns out you have to go through the old control panel Add/Remove programs to do anything with it.
So far I've found no solutions that actually get both Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 AND Microsoft Project Pro 2016 installed on the same computer at the same time
You need to see this:

I also have been using the ODT Tool

But make sure to have a different Product ID for your office version.

Yeah i remember having issues running "Out of the Box" with Retail, also Office365. But the links from @dbeato is what i've used in the past.
(until i needed to use Visio with the latest 365, gave up and added Visio to my 365 subscription)

The biggest question is why Microsoft has apparently gone down the same road as Intuit and started the whole "You now own this product, but aren't able to actually use it" thing.

That answer is simple, "why not if people still buy it?" People still buy it, so seems like they made the right decision to me.
-
And more importantly, any company still buying it shows by their actions that they completely agree that the product is still what they want. So they are telling Microsoft "good job on that decision" with every purchase.

Yeah, this particular client has way more issues than just this, sadly.

I typically run the Office removal tool on all new computers. Seems to clear out all the included installs.
