Fedora 29 Beta is scheduled to drop on 9.25.2018: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/29/Schedule

I plan to re-install from scratch.

This time around, for apps, I'd like to use more Flathub and Snaps

I'm looking over the change log and don't really see anything ground breaking from 28 to 29. It looks like alot of defaults have changed, but I don't see too much beyond that.

Yeah I think a lot of effort is going towards modularity and Silverblue.

Only a six month change, most releases are decently small. Just lots of little updates, mostly to packages.

I am trying to figure out what silverblue is. Their site is kind of ambiguous for someone out of the loop.

Basically, build Fedora desktop using Flatpak instead of DNF and RPMs.

Thanks. I saw flatpak, but didn't realize it was an alternative to dnf and rpm

I believe Canonical is going that route but using snap instead.

Probably, it's been seen as the "cool new thing" now. The pendulum swings.

Great question...there was a small update. I did via the "Software" menu

@fateknollogee how is the third party library? Like what if I have an RPM to add to it, and there is no DNF?

After, I saw your post, I literally just fired it up (as a vm).
Let me try to add some RPM's & a few snaps.
                                    I'll be right back.

@scottalanmiller how would you update and install packages without dnf, I use Ubuntu and would be weird if they removed apt...
Is there a separate command for kernel and repos updates?

Flathub version of LibreOffice (v6.1.1.2) available from the Software section installs without a hitch.
