Can we have some sun? Its going to be raining and storming here again today. The ground is still saturated from the last 2 weeks of storms. It hasn't rained in 2 days and about to go into another round of storms.

About to rage quit a Fedora 27 minimal install on Vultr... Using the netinstall ISO is soooooo slowwwwwwww. One click on the console, then wait 2 minutes... so bad. Anybody else experience this?
-
You can try installing in text mode instead of using the GUI.

What type of VM are you running? Like full specs?

a $2.50 SSD instance: CPU: 1 vCore, 512MB RAM, 20GB SSD.

You might want to install in text mode with that amount of RAM.

Yeah, that is a slow instance, and Although it works in Ubuntu I barely use that.

I'm just trying to setup an NGINX reverse proxy, should be plenty powerful for that. Going to try the text install now.

Oh yeah, that will work flawless.

It's the gui installer that is killing you at the moment.

The text installer is slow too. Something else has to be going on.
Like I enter "5" to select the disk and it takes at least a minute for the 5 to even show up. The cursor is blinking normally so I don't think it's lag between the web console and me.

I've not installed a Fedora 27 VM on vultr yet, but I do know for a fact that the GUI install sucks balls on requirements.
When I set up something locally for making a guide, I always gives it 2048 RAM to keep the GUI from bogging down.
One of these days I will settle on a hypervisor and just make a template. but I keep hopping hypervisors for testing.

You can try using the one that Vultr provides instead. I assume their VM is built using virt-builder.

That's about where I'm at now. The text install failed with some unknown error while setting up the disk

Heading off to bed, gotta be up way too early in the morning.

Nothing wrong with the Vultr images. I never use it for a guide, but that is because I always have to start a guide form a known minimal state to ensure I handle all dependencies and such for people following on behind.

Early to work today. Have to do some off hours upgrades.
