WP would work perfectly... It is a CMS after all.
I think its just a matter of finding the right theme.
There's so many. You'll find the one, the hard part is looking.
It took me forever to find a theme for my sites, and I even had to customize them after.

But the question about this comes down to a request for theme suggestions because I did not find anything that seemed to flow in an easy manner.

These have been my favorite so far:
https://www.cryoutcreations.eu/wordpress-themesBut if you are designing something for games, perhaps look at other popular WordPress themes for big games like World of Warcraft and such... and then just change the colors, backgrounds, pictures, and everything to fit your needs.
It may require some Photoshop skills, but (imo at least) it's fun.

@tim_g This is simply a landing page to hold lore and notes for my D&D campaign. I will likely tie in a side widget or two with the RSS feeds from the forum for the more dynamic bits.
That is all pretty basic and easy.. What I am struggling with is how to display the lore and history as shown in the above screenshot.
For example that transference story line, you always have to fly out menus to even know something exists. Or I have to make the flyout page a page of links.
Either way it sucks.

You need a good menu system that fits your content and link style or whatever.
I came across something a couple years ago that I think would be perfect. It was for Joomla, but I think they have it for WordPress too.
You may have to buy a month subscription to get it, but IMO it's worth it, as they have a TON of stuff you might like.

It's the S5 Flex Menu, or S5 Accordion Menu if you like that better.
You can see them in action if you click to Demo a random WordPress theme, and mouse over the top menu. You can also select the Accordion menu from the Demo area under Plugins.

I bought a month subscription in like 2011 or 12... or something like that, and downloaded everything on their site (for Joomla at the time).

I like this idea. Question,. how do i get back up a level?
This works well wit the random unformed thoughts in my head.
Oviously I would use better titles than roman numerals on the tbas, but awesome that you went that far in a mock up. -

To the main lore section? Where the other stories would be? You could do recent pages carousel at the bottom of the tab content.

Did you find an answer?

I have not found anything I liked.
I am not leanging to jsut making this a section of my NodeBB.
Maybe a dedicated page with the custom page plugin.
