They used to provide prisoners with lobster, I think in the 1600-1700s as it was a ridiculously inexpensive form of protein. They were so conflated with being disgusting that there was movement to ban the practice as cruel and unusual punishment.
I don't particularly enjoy lobster or crab. But I'll eat it if it is put in front of me.
Nope, no way. Nothing that crawls under water, swims in it or that may stick its head out of it. Thanks, but no thanks.
Kind of a phobia back from my kindergarten time: We were forced to site in front of our meal until our parents catched us up at 4pm. Cooked (boiled?) fish every friday. Really loved fish up until this point, tried it a few again but never really ate one ever since.
You're missing out. I really have been liking fish more and more as I've gotten older. I had a swordfish fillet the other day, it was served cold with a hot pepper sauce over it. Fantastic.
A local brewpub (which has top notch food) always has a great daily fish special. I almost always get it when I'm there. Often, they do an Asian style preparation, with seasonal veggies, etc. But I grew up eating fish, so I'm a sucker for a nice, pan-seared filet of fish. Or a whole, grilled or fried fish.
I haven't been to a fish fry in a long time. Not since living in Georgia actually.

We do the fish frys here... but I haven't been to a real one (where some folks just caught all the fish being fried) in a while. Last time I had a big batch of fish to cook, I made a curry.

My family has a fish fry at least a couple of times a year. A couple of the
old fogiesretired folks will go out and catch a good bucket or two and bring em home. -
Gonna have to buy some pacific salmon on the way home now for dinner.

And now we know what @momurda is having for supper, lol.

If the pizza ain't from NY, it won't be as good...our water makes our pizza so amazing...one reason no one else in the country can measure up to true NY pizza.

Do you do an Italian style pizza there? Or Alsatian? Europe has such varied pizza.

Alsatian
Had to look up that word You mean Flammkuchen. It's also great, but it will be Italian.

In Italy, yes. And in France, Germany, Romania, Chicago, NYC, Texas, Canada, etc.
Nothing compares to NY's Mohawk Valley. Even in the Alba region doesn't compete.

The real NY style places down here actually import NY water for their dough. My neighbors are from Long Island, they found this out from living here 10+ years.

Yeah, California does that, too. Long Island and NYC don't have the good pizza, though. That's where it is famous, just because of the big city. But the Mohawk Valley west of Albany puts NYC to shame on quality. Fresher cheese, better water, better style. They are less flashy and in your face about it, but the pizza is second to none. NYC doesn't come close.

Rochester is okay, but nothing super special. You want to get to the stretch between Utica and Albany for the very best pizza.
