Wordpress? Worth the extra time writing? More kinda in brain dump mode right now trying to figure it out. Anyone else besides SAM?

I plan to put more stuff on my blog, typical things you run into. PowerShell and *sh snippets, a few things here and there etc. Also recently started with an Hyper-V article on starwindsoftware.com. But I'm a bit short of time at the moment for a couple of reasons.

I blog occasionally, its been good for me the few times I've done it, as it's a mental release for the bullshit that goes on in the day to day operations.

And it passes wisdom and insight to a particular situation. This is my blog.

Not talking about the crap user stuff. More of like ServiceA crapped the bucket, and with little documentation out there, I fixed it by doing X.

Blogs aren't very useful for that type of stuff. That's why I gave up and closed my blog that did that. I moved the content here.

I've been having a discussion here at work on the difference between blogging and writing articles. And which is more appropriate for generating business.

I consider blogs like quick, witty stuff. As opposed to the longer more substantial article you write.

Those are status updates, the medium does not matter.

Using proper keywords on forums is good. Unless you are experts exchange. More sites just need better SEO.

Huh? Are you calling blogging a medium?

Besides SAM, quite over there. Who else blogs about IT? I was debating starting a IT Blog/KB since the pain that I endure, I would like to help others out. Like Spiceworks but on a more Proactive level. Working for an MSP, you are thrown at a lot of stuff, even the things the vendor has no documentation on ahem....Teams.....

I think that, if you blog, you need to be able to write. From this post alone, I can clearly see that you may lack in a fundamental skill. It's a good thing that the Internet is here to help you!

I have an old blog that is no longer live, but I recently started a new and improved one HERE.

I'll be blogging about whatever I feel like... whether it's stuff I will need to reference myself later, to help others, express opinions, one-offs of the occasional issue/fix, whatever.

It's fun to get things off your chest, or things to look at later... and nice to know you've helped other fellow IT brothers/sisters.

In my mind, blogging, as a writing subgenre, is focused around sharing an experience in a more verbose way than a facebook status. It may have a point, or educate, but it is primarily self experience oriented.

I thought about it to log projects I do in a mini howto like format. Specially the type of ones I spend hours using google to come up with the final solution. Also as a reminder on how I did it for reference
