You can, but it just adds a layer of annoyance. Also whenever you use the free service now, they keep giving you "complimentary" pro features, in an effort to get you to sign up for the paid version. Just your typical effort to increase conversion. I'm sure it works, but at the cost of being a pain in the ass. Guess we can't complain since it is still free.

That's the reason I quit recommending Avast and AVG for free A/Vs they started doing that crap with ads randomly pop up from task tray.

It's that signing up for something causes a lot of friction when trying to support someone.

Does the other person have to sign up too? I thought it was only the person initiating the meeting.

It has been like that for almost a year now actually. This was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. After that, I researched choices and we purchased 2 licenses of ScreenConnect.

Someone needs to just creat an open source alternative. What tech magic is there to overcome?

Judging by the release notes from ScreenConnect, more than you think.

The NAT Traversal is the biggest thing to overcome for any of these types of products. It's most easily done by a middle man server, which of course has a cost.

                          Yeah, that's a huge pain.
