HDMI Splitting for Video to HDMI and Audio to SPDIF

Anyone know if you can get a splitter that will take HDMI in and split it into HDMI out with the video on it and SPDIF with the audio on it?

That's an interesting way to do things. I feel like a lot of things nowadays have a SPDIF out you could use?

Wow, that seems weird. A receiver that doesn't handle audio? Is it that the the receiver doesn't understand surround audio, or some other newer thing than the receiver supports?

The receiver doesn't accept HDMI audio. It does audio, just not from that source. I agree, it's weird.
