Just looked over this article again. Not sure if this was there earlier, but I see now that they are calling it XenServer Ely Alpha 1.

yeah I saw those yesterday. It will be interesting if he comes back with the setup info, etc to show that there was 5x but then it was lost.

I've never had a bad experience with the import / export speeds of XenServer 6.5 or 7 as of yet.
Just the other day I had to create a full backup of a VM with 6.5TB of vdi and it completed in 16.5 hours.
So that's what 126Gb/s?
I think the biggest bottleneck people are having is the underlying source and target storage speeds. In the topic you posted @Danp it seems they are backing up to a tiny RAID5 array with 7200 rpm drives.

I've gone from XenServer to a VM on a separate XenServer installation, across multiple switches, and still have had great performance.
When my original setup was to a literal desktop (turned into hypervisor) OBR10 with 4 SFF 500Gb 7200 rpm drives I still was getting 30 minute backup windows using XO.
I'm curious now if I'm the oddity... . .

b) even his performance can be improvedBut "it happens" isn't a reliable approach to fixing the issue. I've never seen it act so slow, in the past year and a half. So it has never happened to me.
The speed performance has always been an "XS problem" from what @olivier has said IIRC.
So maybe he means he could have a better development lab to work with is what he means?

He is part of the group testing it on the bug tracker, and reporting his speeds. So I am assuming he is also seeing performance increases.
He's also super psyched they are fixing it.

For XS export speed: YMMV. I don't have major issues on my side, but some people (let's say 10/15%) had problems.
I suppose it's more related to a hardware problem.
I see improvements yes, but at the margin, I'm often saturating my GB link.
