Rule 41 - allows government to hack any computer with a warrant
-
Not like anything will actually change. FBI was already doing this and no one was holding them accountable. So this is nothing more than paperwork.
-
Can't wait for the inevitable headline. After the Rule 41 amendment was instated the FBI has noticed a drastic uptick of botnet nodes. They are flabbergasted as to the reason.
-
The sad part is that the only difference between the FBI and any random malware vendors is that random malware vendors aren't evil, just people with questionable ethics willing to hurt you to make money. The FBI doesn't get paid to hack people, they do the same things as the malware vendors but do it because they hate you and are willing to compromise their ethics and violate the pledge and duty to their country just to hurt people.
It's things like "I'd feel more comfortable having a malware vendor babysit my kids than an FBI agent doing so." that tell you how scary they are.

Botnets to cover up other botnets so that the continuation can continue....

This isn't about terrorism, it's about surveillance.
Terrorism is the best thing that has happened to the US government. They make so many laws "protecting" the people. Each time they "protect" us they take new freedoms away. Why are we so concerned about terrorism when in reality it affects such a minute percentage of the US population.
Would you give up your freedom to be safe from sharks or bees? They kill way more people a year than terrorism does.

If surveillance makes you live in fear, it's terrorism too.

But would you really rather have a hacker-for-living babysit over an FBI agent?
At least with the FBI agent there is some sort of 'screening' going on.

Falling down stairs, and swimming pools as well.

Based on zero additional information... yup. If the only thing that I know about either is that one will compromise their ethics for money and the other will do it in spite of money, you better believe that I'll trust the person who prioritizes money over the person who prioritizes evil.

Show me the stats or shut it, you're ruining my dreams of swimming with a bee-shark.
-
To be fair... we live in the US, where people regularly vote for people who say they are going to stop terrorism. I don't hold much hope for our population understanding the ramifications of something like this.

Or is it a Shark Bee? It's hard to tell when it's trying to bite off your leg and sting you in the neck at the same time.
Ow! OW! -
Ugh... the Department of Justice is using the "Think of the children" defense for this.

Maybe not sharks, but definitely bees and other animals contribute to more deaths than terrorism.
