Wife is making vegetarian BLTs for lunch right now. On my third cup of coffee.
Vegetarian BLT? What do you use for the B ??
Normally Morningstar Veggie Bacon, which even before I was a vegetarian I preferred to real bacon. But today we are testing out a new product called Benevolent Bacon that we have never tried before.
Cool. I don't know many vegetarians (or is it vegan?) so I'm not overly aware of the options out there.
I know that Morningstar Bacon is vegan. No idea about this new one. I'm not vegan, so I don't pay attention.
Ok, so I was right... There's a difference between vegans and vegetarians... /sigh... Time to go check google.
Vegans don't eat anything made from an animal at all. No eggs, no milk, nothing. Vegetarians on the other hand often accept milk for example. There's no clear definition for that.
There WAS a clear definition. Vegetarian always meant dairy, eggs and even fish. That there is any ambiguity is purely a recent thing in the last decade or so.
So you like fish and such? ... and haven't I seen pictures you eating things that have meat or is that just my imagination?
I'm a carnivore, lol. If it's food and placed in front of me, I'll try it at least once.
He posted at least 2 times last week that he is going to have lobster
No, the restaurant is called lobster, I don't really eat lobster.
"... because they eat poo", I remember
As my wife calls them... the cockroaches of the sea.
That's an apt description.

O.o Excellent source of protein, apparently... but no thank you... I hear pine cones taste great this time of year.

Pine nuts are actually delicious.

Yup. They are gross things. And they don't normally taste that good. Other than a New England lobster roll, or a good bisque, I rarely would want something with lobster in it. My parents were serious lobster eaters, though, eating up to eight per day between them, it was crazy.
Lobster night on a cruise is always the most popular night...hands down. All you can eat lobster tail? Hellz to the yes!

I wonder if cockroach night would be so popular.

They used to provide prisoners with lobster, I think in the 1600-1700s as it was a ridiculously inexpensive form of protein. They were so conflated with being disgusting that there was movement to ban the practice as cruel and unusual punishment.
I don't particularly enjoy lobster or crab. But I'll eat it if it is put in front of me.
-
In the South Pacific, islanders only eat lobster as a last resort, long after running out of SPAM.

Nope, no way. Nothing that crawls under water, swims in it or that may stick its head out of it. Thanks, but no thanks.
Kind of a phobia back from my kindergarten time: We were forced to sit in front of our meal until our parents catched us up at 4pm. Cooked (boiled?) fish every friday. Really loved fish up until this point, tried it a few again but never really ate one ever since.

Now a craw-fry I could do all day. Something about the seasoning is fantastic.

You're missing out. I really have been liking fish more and more as I've gotten older. I had a swordfish fillet the other day, it was served cold with a hot pepper sauce over it. Fantastic.

I'm trying it every once in a while, my wife loves fish. But just the smell of it is causing ... what was the word I've learned just a few weeks ago (thanks to @MattSpeller or @RojoLoco as far as I remember)? Puking?
I'm really not phobic about anything but this.

I just had a great Caesar salad variation - add: feta cheese, grilled portobello strips, roasted red peppers, cucumbers, and grilled chicken. Awww yeah.
-
I didn't like fish when I was young but love it as an adult.

I've never found that to be so, even the really good, fresh stuff right off of the boat in Maine. It's not bad, just not that good. The flavour just doesn't do it for me except in bisque, with all of that butter and cream the flavour works well for me.

That's the only time I will eat lobster or crab. Fresh off the boat and into a pot.

A local brewpub (which has top notch food) always has a great daily fish special. I almost always get it when I'm there. Often, they do an Asian style preparation, with seasonal veggies, etc. But I grew up eating fish, so I'm a sucker for a nice, pan-seared filet of fish. Or a whole, grilled or fried fish.

Well sure, because crab and lobster both already taste buttery. So do scallops (when prepared right). And yes, I can spot a piece of skate wing substituted for a scallop.

I haven't been to a fish fry in a long time. Not since living in Georgia actually.
