NTG Lab Update
-
Hey all,
There have been some questions regarding the status of the Lab. First off, I want to personally apologize for the wait--we were looking to have everything up and running by the beginning of June, but as many of you may have experienced in your own IT adventures, things can and often will go wrong.
There was a missing part that needed to be ordered (that has since been delivered and installed), and we are currently working on resolving a few networking issues that-- as far as I know (in my limited technical knowledge, maybe @scottalanmiller or @art_of_shred can shed additional light)--is the only thing that stands in the way of the Lab getting up and rocking. Our IT staff is working to get that resolved ASAP so you can get some of that sweet sweet Lab action.
So yeah, it's on us, and we take full responsibility for the wait. Trust me, I'm not happy either. Please address all questions and criticisms to our mascot Coly. Or me. I'm here too.

I'm not sure that there is one yet. But I'm in NY as you know and I'm sure that MQ will have that on my docket to discuss with her while I'm around. Not likely this week for reasons that some of you know but likely this month when I'm back after the ID holiday.

One additional piece post missing part, we believe, to get everything up and running and it looks like Ivan just hooked us up with what we need there so going to test that out and update him (and you) shortly to see where we are. Fingers crossed!

Any reason not to tell us what the missing part is/was?

Because it is a stolen flux capacitor that.... well, I've said too much.

SECRECY!
No, it was an SFP Module.

No, it was an SFP Module.
The main component of the lab is the 6-node Scale cluster, and the LAN-side connection for those goes to a switch that has a single connection up the chain, which requires an adapter (RJ-45/SFP), which is very small and easy to misplace in a big move.

Don't I know it. I missplaced one recently too.
