Why? If it's using Google cloud to print, the location shouldn't matter.
How do you figure? How does Google Print get the print jobs to the printer then with the firewall closed?
Because the printer talks directly to google, not the chromebook, through cloud services. See the picture above.

Almost none of them do.
Google's Cloud print works through a local computer that has the printer installed most of the time.

Right I'm saying that unless their router supports WPS they won't be able to add it to their current network.
Their manual shows either windows drivers/software or using the WPS button to join the wifi.

Ah ic what you thought I meant. Sorry, I meant since it doesn't have a screen the only way they are going to be able to attach it to their wireless is with WPS.

Here is a list of supported Brother printers for Google's Cloud Print Service, which according to Brother supports direct printing from Google's Cloud, no local PC required
The HL-L2305W is on that list. The problem is original setup. I'm guessing that the printer has to be configured via a PC to talk to the WiFi and a google account.

Not in every case, but yes, I know it can work with no PC on the same LAN as the printer. I've setup other printers that have a display, using that display you setup a connection with a google account, then you print via the cloud.
