I've been on Opera for a while now, love it, but Vivaldi is currently the only browser that will show our security cam live feed. I just updated it today, and I'll probably start using it for more stuff.

ooc how did you build your security system (cameras and all)?

It's all Ubiquiti... cameras, NVR, and PoE switch. I ran all the cables and did the installation. 6x cameras.

That's odd. The last system I setup was Ubiquiti and that worked great in every browser.

It has been working fine, I think this last Opera update killed something in the live view part. All the rest of it still works fine. I keep the live view open to watch the front door (when the desk lady is away).

@coliver I haven't had time to investigate further... I tried a different browser and it came right up, so I called it done.

Do you have this dumped onto a file server or does motion activation keep the file size down enough?

The NVR works really well. It can store a lot of video.

We use the NVR straight up, bone stock config. Works a charm, and like @coliver says, it holds a ton of vidya.

Does the Ubiquiti NVR talk to other cameras. I'm looking at replacing my current one in the near future, but I don't want to replace 30 something cameras.

Not sure. The Ubiquiti cameras were wicked cheap, and we only needed 6, so I didn't look into the NVR's compatibility. But the UBNT cameras are just IP cams, so I would think it's possible to use other brands.

No, it will only talk to Ubiquiti cameras. I haven't seen anyone on the forums getting it working with other cameras. You can download the software to test here: https://www.ubnt.com/download/unifi-video/unifi-nvr/uvc-nvr

The last pass chrome plugin doesn't work very well in it.

I wanted to like it.. Already abandoned it. It's just too clunky of a browser for me.

The web panel sidebar feature is awesome... It means I can keep ML's mobile view open in a little sidebar on all my pages and see new posts in real time without having to tab switch constantly 🙂

Putting my Trello to-do list in the sidebar is also handy.

Other nice stuff... the browser chrome color adjusts based on the average of the color palette in the site's favicon (or that's what I'm guessing based on my observations). Side bar notes are awesome. The overall UX is just really solid. It supports Chrome extensions but I haven't tested any for compatibilty yet.
