The Excel have a lot of Macros It only works with Excel.

Only way I get to work is using Xp and office 2003, impossible make it works with Office 2013 and W 8.1.

Thanks you Microsoft for waste my time.

Hence... not likely actually legit. Seriously, call MS and ask them to audit the situation. This sounds like a scam. That or Microsoft is sending a VERy strong statement that they are not supporting Windows 10 and Office 365. Call them and ask which it is.

If I was in that situation, I would consider this a scam. I don't think that it is reasonable that MS doesn't support MS products.

I helped our sister company do this at my last position. It was just a super simple Excel file.

I've talked to a lot of people that have done this and it was never technically problematic.

Why do you still have XP and Office 2003... this is a bad idea even when you aren't trying to open questionable Excel files...

hence why I'm convinced something is wrong here.

Company I work need connect to some old machines using Com port, with very specific software, this software It's not compatible with W7 or W8.1, so I've some old laptops, out from the company Domain, for this Tasks.
I'm using one of this laptops to fill the excel file.

About the file I get the English version, Microsoft send me the spanish version, and works fine in Excel 2013.

And you are sure that it is Microsoft themselves sending this file? You have at least responded to a microsoft.com email address and gotten a direct response from it?

Almost all those old apps people say won't work in on newer OSes will if you make enough work arounds for it.

For com ports VLINX serial network servers are great.

                            @scottalanmiller

I get an answer for Microsoft this morning.

The send me by mistake and old version of the file (v2 instead v4)

Now all Macros works fine and can fill the Excel sheet.

What a weird mistake to have made.

@iroal - Glad that worked out for you. I had a similar experience with a bad Workbook, and Microsoft ultimately sent me one without macros. Still, I find the process incredibly flawed. I wound up "venting" about it in a blog post. http://www.efficiencynext.com/microsofts-deeply-flawed-sam-evaluation-process/

@napkatz It's the worse Excel Sheet I've seen in my live, the macros always Crash and there is no support in case of any problem, thy just send you other excel file until one of them work in your computer.

I sent 3 weeks ago the Excel and I'm still wating for an answer.

So, its 6 days shy of 2 months and this is finally complete... they tried their best, but couldn't find anywhere I was short on licenses. What a complete and utter waste of time.

                                        Good for you.

I'm still waiting, two months since I sent the Excel file, they gave me just 10 days to recompile all the information...

Yeah took about 2 months to get our "all clear" report back.

Did they do an inhouse audit?
