Sketchy Craigslist guy
-
Most Sketchy person I've ever talked to on craigslist. I think he's up to something
http://roanoke.craigslist.org/app/5298626060.html
He does not want to meet in public or give his address over text, email or the phone. He wants you to call him and he will give you specific instructions on how to get to his house (supposedly) without telling you what the address is. This is also in an area were there would be no cell service. I told him I'm not going to a place I don't know where its at besides some random directions. He said good, I don't want a buyer that would use a GPS anyway.
Am I reading to much into it?

No, not reading too much into it AT ALL. Don't go near that guy without a cop with you.
-
Yeah, they are probably stolen...
-
Stolen? Nah, that guys juts a serial killer!!
-
I would call him while sitting in front of Google Earth and have him give directions. As soon as he finishes, tell him what his address is. That should be fun. Then, never actually go there; the dude's a nut-job supreme.

"It rubs the lotion on it's skin, or else it gets the hose again"...

I don't trust a lot of people on Craigslist. I've only done a couple things with CL. One was apply for a job where the employer was trying to pay me right away before even starting. I NOPED out of there. The other was for a purchase, I brought the burliest man I could find to talk to the guy, I sat in the car and we met during the day in a Rite-Aid parking lot on the busiest street possible.
-
I meet one of my good friends who become a business partner later on on craigslist from selling stuff to him. It was pretty cool. I've since gotten out of it. And not he just does it as contract for other places.
-
I've tried to use it once or twice but not sure that I've ever actually had a CL transaction.
-
I want the OP to call the guy back and do the google earth trick to tell him his own address... record the call, etc. Should prove to be a good time.
-
I've done a few CL transactions. Getting to the transaction part is the hardest. There are so many goofballs on CL... tire-kickers and time-wasters. And, because I don't live in the city, I always have to meet people somewhere 45 minutes from me so that it's 5 minutes for them. Seems "city folk" can't drive more than 10 minutes for anything.
-
Eek! It's definitely better to go with your gut feeling about things like this than to end of robbed or dead. People who won't meet in public are up to no good.

That's the same with all the college students around here. They want to meet at the mall 5min from them or no where.

Wow... maybe it is because I'm from an even more remote area than @art_of_shred but I've driven 2 hours to pick up something I've purchased on CL before.

I've done an hour or 2 but only if it's a really good deal and something I really want.

Do you really even need to ask? The answer is NO. There are plenty of other reasonable sellers of washers and dryers. It's not like $300 for a washer/dryer is an out of this world deal. I have regularly seen combos in good shape for $200 or even less. Maybe it is just in my area, but I doubt it's a super great deal that you can't match or beat elsewhere.

Delivery, setup, and warranty for $300

The top one is a known guy that sells broken ones.
Bottom one would help if he knew how to use categories.

I'm not saying I won't drive. I'm annoyed at how many other people who use CL refuse to drive more than 5-10 minutes.
