Android Fans - Note 5 or Nexus 6P
-
@coliver I've had the Note 3 and now the Note 4. I love the fact that I can use my phone as a small notepad with the stylus and not having to worry about my palm making the "pen" jump all over the place while I'm trying to write.

@garak0410 I really want to like the 6P, but USB-C is still new, no wireless charging and ... well... honestly I have some reservations about Huawai
Yeah, when I saw "Huawai" I had some reservations too...Since I've had the Note 5, I've had two security patches from Samsung, so that helps some and I don't install "crap" on the phone at all.
The phone has performed well...battery life could be somewhat better but thank goodness it has fast charging.
Side note...I use a Microsoft Band 2 with it...I have to say the Band 2 works even better on Android, if for the notifications alone.

@garak0410 How did you get the patches from Samsung? I'm stuck on Verizon, so I'm probably months behind, lol.

I'm on Verizon (otherwise, I may have been holding out for the Lumia 950xl for the camera alone) with the Note 5 and Samsung has pushed two security updates since I've had it.
-
@garak0410 Are you getting those as OTA updates or from Samsung's web site?

Hmm something to ponder - never thought about it with my nexus.

That's the best part about the nexus line. You get all updates. They may be a couple weeks behind, but much better than 2 years or never.

OTA...they just pop up on screen and I apply them.

When I was on Verzion they were only 2-3 weeks behind Samsung and LG in deploying their security patches.
-
I'm getting more sold on the note5

Yep, this was great... although my handwriting was so bad it could never figure out what letters were which.... much better just to type it. Google Now notation are really good, at least from the little bit I've experimented with them.

what about one of these?
In all seriousness, it kind of looks cool. But I bet it's going to suck hard.

Oh man I remember people dropping those and the two halves would scissor and shear off like clock work. Used to make a pretty penny selling new phones to them.

Haha, good thing they were inexpensive.... a good friend of mine would break their's at least once a month. He was one of the last people get into the smart phone era.

I had one of these badboys

@johnhooks whoa man, that's fancy shit. I rocked a BB7220 blue pancake for a LONNNNGGGG time. Color screen? Why would you ever want that?
-
My first "Smart Phone" was a BB Storm with the tactile touchscreen... man was that a terrible phone, I loved every second of using it though.
-
My first smart phone was an HP IPAQ running Windows Mobile 5.0

I had a BB through work. I never liked the trackball stuff. This was the first smartphone I ever had.
