Android Fans - Note 5 or Nexus 6P
-
Android Fans...I've decided to leave my beloved Windows Phone and back to Android. If you had your choice, would you get the Note 5 or Nexus 6P? I have that option. I am using the Note 5 now and like it and have used the Stylus a lot. My past experience with Android was with Samsung and TouchWiz and the phones always lagged over time. I hope that isn't the case with the Note 5. The idea of a pure Android OS on the 6P sounds appealing and I might be willing to live without Stylus and wireless charging. The "bloat" on the Samsung doesn't concern me but wish I really could hide the Verizon stuff. Not sure if camera is a major stop down on the Nexus 6P either.
Thoughts? Thanks...

.... Are you me? Is this trolling? lol
I broke my screen this morning and I was talking about it in another thread

Have the nexus5 currently, leaning towards the Note5 for wireless recharging over 6P with new usb cords to buy

Sorry, missed other thread...usually good at that searching first...

@garak0410 oh geez no worries, I think it was in the morass of "what are you doing"

The Note 5 has been wicked...serious...but the Nexus 6P has been enticing...

I don't think I could go back to something other than a Nexus. Not only for experience, but for things like this:

Yep...saw that...forgot to mention it but it was one of the reasons I am looking into the Nexus as well...

@garak0410 I really want to like the 6P, but USB-C is still new, no wireless charging and ... well... honestly I have some reservations about Huawai
-
I would go with the 6P if I was in the market for a high-end phone. I loved my Note and Note 2 but after the Note 2 I went with an LG G3 and got better performance and much better battery life. I'm not convinced sammy is the way to go anymore.
-
@MattSpeller I've seen a couple of their "cheaper" phones, and they seemed to run halfway decently for what they were.
-
@coliver I've had the Note 3 and now the Note 4. I love the fact that I can use my phone as a small notepad with the stylus and not having to worry about my palm making the "pen" jump all over the place while I'm trying to write.

Yeah, when I saw "Huawai" I had some reservations too...Since I've had the Note 5, I've had two security patches from Samsung, so that helps some and I don't install "crap" on the phone at all.
The phone has performed well...battery life could be somewhat better but thank goodness it has fast charging.
Side note...I use a Microsoft Band 2 with it...I have to say the Band 2 works even better on Android, if for the notifications alone.

@garak0410 How did you get the patches from Samsung? I'm stuck on Verizon, so I'm probably months behind, lol.

I'm on Verizon (otherwise, I may have been holding out for the Lumia 950xl for the camera alone) with the Note 5 and Samsung has pushed two security updates since I've had it.
-
@garak0410 Are you getting those as OTA updates or from Samsung's web site?

Hmm something to ponder - never thought about it with my nexus.

That's the best part about the nexus line. You get all updates. They may be a couple weeks behind, but much better than 2 years or never.

OTA...they just pop up on screen and I apply them.

When I was on Verzion they were only 2-3 weeks behind Samsung and LG in deploying their security patches.
