QR codes are definitely the way to go. NTG used to do barcoded inventory systems commerically for hospitals. Still do technically, we've been building and running those systems for a long time.

You can get metal "tear apart" inventory stickers pretty easily that are super hard to remove.

With QR codes you can scan with phones and such, instead of needing a bar code scanner which is annoying to have to interface with, program, keep handy, etc.

We have ones with barcodes and numbers.
When you have to take one off, for asset disposals, it's fairly difficult to remove and it leaves the word VOID behind

We are using the IDAutomation_BarcodeLabelSoftware application
Just supply the serial number then good to go 🙂

There are some really great options for permanent property tags. (They literally melt their way onto the device with a super adhesive.

Like "Warning this property is tracked with tracking software" etc.

I'd imagine you can custom order them with custom information such as an asset number or contact if found information.

But they aren't cheap. 100 tags for $100 or more depending on what you want on the tags. Here's just one site from google http://www.myassettag.com/

Thanks - I was hoping for an actual recommendation though.

lol - yeah I'd like something a bit nicer than that.

Thanks for a direct recommendation though 🙂

If the asset breaks while applying the tag, well, it wasn't worth it 😉
