    • FreePBX Asterisk crash

Since Tuesday evening our phones intermittently have been showing 'No Service'. I did some searching and couldn't find anything. Decided I might roll out Asterisk 15 and found this:

      https://community.freepbx.org/t/removal-of-asterisk-13-26-and-asterisk-15-7-2/58004

Did the fix suggested and all is good so far. We'll see if the phone go down (they seem to last about 3 hours or so before they go offline again).

Is there any reason I should/shouldn't be looking at the A chips vs Intel or AMD chips?

Standard users, mostly Word/Excel users with a couple that do more graphic work (photoshop, InDesign).

This occurs for any spreadsheet from email or web site, thus isn't trusted.

It happens on the Office 2016 Standard version as well.

I have had to do this: https://support.smartvault.com/Other/Knowledge_Base_and_Known_Issues/Turn_off_Protected_View_in_Excel_to_improve_performance_of_opening_Excel_documents_from_the_SmartVault_Drive

As well as tell people to save the file to their local docs folder.

Just ran updates in FreePBX and now the queue buildup is back. Guess I'll have to fix it the right way 😞

Have you tried setting them to delayed start? Maybe SQL Server is taking too long and they are hanging while waiting on it.

I thought I did that but guess not. We'll start there and see what happens.

We recently picked up a new customer because the users couldn't log in each morning until they had walked over to the server and logged in to the desktop. We came in because the old company couldn't fix it.

We found AVAST installed on the server and AVAST is known for preventing services from starting before certain conditions are met.

      Uninstalled it and VIOLA!

Moral: Don't rule out the low hanging fruit.... 🙂

These are two new VMs, No AV on them except for Windows Defender

@WLS-ITGuy - It had to do with SQL not liking earlier versions of TLS or SSL being disabled.

Did it matter on OS? These are 2016 servers that services aren't firing up on.

How long has it been doing this? New thing, or always?

I am not sure as to the time frame. With some of my users I don't hear things until a month or two past when it originally started.

We have a linode instance of 32GB: 8 CPU, 640GB Storage. Some users are saying that they are having to wait long periods to upload files to our install of Moodle on this instance. Simple files of 2-3MB take 20-30 seconds. This wouldn't be a problem except that most of our users are uploading 20+ files and have to upload them individually to each student.

I have tested the issue on other internet providers (not just here on campus) so I know it is an issue on Linode's side but how do I troubleshoot?

Also what is their upload speed as well?

We have a 200x200 fiber connection on campus and most have a 100x10 cable connection at home.

Anyone else having issues with services not restarting after a server reboot?

On 3 separate servers now, a bunch of services that are indeed important for that server haven't restarted. Looking at logs and nothing jumps out. Just curious if this is happening anywhere else?

This has been going on for quite some time on Windows servers as far as I can tell.

Well, editing the cron worked. I suppose I could put the symlink back but it isn't spitting emails to the queue anymore so...

But it is also not correctly running the task that the cron job should be running.

That was the point of the error message.

Well, you don't have to get that's not the correct fix on me. Fine, I'll fix it the right way then 🙂

The odd thing here would be what happened to the links in the first place.

Which is why I created the ticket with Sangoma. Their response was to delete the cron jobs causing the error.

So to do this the right way I do what exactly?

I'm not the happiest with their support team. I recently opened two tickets that they completely did not understand. Finally a dev is on it and things are being worked out.

Their dev's are solid. Support, less so.

Matt and Robert have been stellar when you can actually get them. The tier setup has changed since Sangoma took over and it takes FOREVER to get elevated to one of those guys.
