RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
@ajstringham custom application and Ubuntu is its specific target platform. All of the core team's testing is on it. It's not like a generic web server where you'd want the optimum OS. This is a specific OS to application pairing.

Imaging is still in process. It takes a surprisingly long time to image these systems.

Maintenance 16 August 2014
We are doing some system maintenance tonight, so preparing everyone for some potential issues. Taking the pre-work snapshot right now.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
This just seems like a bad idea all around.
I see that this place is pretty lively tonight!

RE: What's better than Java?
This would be a great topic to post about over on GroveSocial's new Model Railroading Forum! We've been looking for people interested in posting over there to get the ball rolling.

RE: Weekend Plans
Just working on the community. Now that the update has rolled out there is a lot to be done.

RE: BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are very hopeful that the new patch will resolve several issues, as you can see the purple lock was one of them. That was a known bug that was recently announced. The tags, that you also found, are new to this version too. It was we who requested that feature be put into the codebase, so we are very excited to have it working now.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Working on MangoLassi. We did the 0.4.3 update and ran into some snags, most of which appear to be cleaned up. Very hopeful that the "null posts" issue will be fixed now. Fingers crossed, everyone. Doing a ton of manual cleanup from the 0.4.1 bugs.

NodeBB 0.4.3 Is Now Running
We've upgraded by two versions. Let us know if you see things working now that were not working before, if things are broken etc.

Major Socket.io Update
Socket.io has gone to version 1.0!
Not very excited? You should be, because NodeBB runs on Socket.io and MangoLassi runs on NodeBB. This new update addresses, we hope, the issue where many people have been unable to reliably connect to the community due to their firewalls and proxies breaking the connection. You can read more here:

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
@ken Hi Ken, and welcome to MangoLassi. Great to have you here. @Addie and I are with GroveSocial. We aren't technical like you folks, but we are with the GS Social Media Marketing Platform team. We are really excited about MangoLassi and how the community has taken off. This is just the beginning for us. We will be going "public" with our GroveSocial presence soon and will have several internal communities that we run ourselves (no representing sponsor) to showcase sooner than later and will be running communities on behalf of others soon (we hope) as well.
We are really a managed Social Media Marketing company, which is I think the best description. We can run whole communities, as you can see, or we can assist in the running of existing communities, consult, etc.

RE: Recent Posts on Main Page
@Bill-Kindle said:
Its a bunch of text and kinda hard to follow. Post titles might be better.
Would that be better than a clean front page with only the categories? You are only one click away from each category that would show the latest posts.

Recent Posts on Main Page
As we continue to use the site and evaluate how it makes sense to use, I get the impression that the front page view of the categories with dropdowns showing the last several posts in each category is a waste of screen real estate. Does anyone actually read that or is it just a bunch of text on the screen? Would the site be more usable if the main screen was cleaner and less busy? My inkling is that when we turn off those dropdowns, the site is easier to use.

Current Users
We have removed the "current users" view on the main page to speed up page load times to make the site more "snappy" for users.

RE: Update 0.4.2 Has Been Applied
Apparently some major issues. We've rolled back.
