Very happy that this update was able to make it out smoothly ahead of the big event this Friday.

RE: Why the name Mangolassi?
@nervo welcome to the MangoLassi community! Great to see you here. We always welcome visitors over from the NodeBB forums. Great to see other users of the platform checking us out. To the best of our knowledge this is the busiest NodeBB platform out there. Every post that you see here started here, nothing here migrated from another platform or community. We built MangoLassi from day one on NodeBB.
There is no Desi connection, I am afraid. The title was proposed a bit as an inside joke but a bunch of people liked it and asked to keep it. So it stuck. A very popular forum that is much like this one makes references to spicy food heavily and, of course, the perfect compliment to a very spicy mean is a delicious Mango Lassi. Hence the name.
Our community is very international, though. We have people from everywhere here and more joining from all over the world all of the time.

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
Thanks goodness that the Random thread (and other thread) freezing issue is gone. Things have been so much smoother since then.

That's a lot of work.. Maybe we can get a GUI option for that.
Feature requests can be posted directly to the developers over at community.nodebb.org. Posting there directly gets a lot of attention.

Chat Fixed
The chat feature which has been down for a few days is now working again. The ML community was the first to identify the break and the NodeBB team jumped on it and discovered that the latest code release required a newer version of the underlying database. So we had to do a manual update to the very latest MongoDB and it appears that everything is working well now.
It seems that we are faster and hopefully more stable too.

Minor Java update too. Only impacts the Solr searching functionality.

Maintenance 20 August 2014
Okay everyone, we know this week has been a rocky one. Some things are great with the latest update and other things are pretty rough. We don't know what is being addressed in the latest patch but it is out as of a few hours ago and we are patching to see if it resolves any of our issues.
We are moving from NodeBB 0.5.0-2 to 0.5.0-3. Very small move, but maybe we will get lucky.

RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
Sorry everyone, searching got hosed in the update and we didn't catch it. With the move to the new version we had to move to Apache Solr, which we not have and it appears to be running great. Searching is screaming fast now.

RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
@JaredBusch are the sounds actually playing? The sound plugin was disabled previously and now completely uninstalled. There should be no sounds at all.
Or is it purely the checkbox has not been fixed yet?

RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
Anyone having lingering notification issues? It seems to be working but to have reset at the update.

RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
@JaredBusch which browser is covering up the icon? I see it covering up a little on Chrome but only when using the compressed view (which most people prefer.) Looks okay on all Firefox.

NodeBB Upgrade Guide
As GroveSocial does this for many more sites than a normal company, we took the five minutes to assemble and test a one liner for upgrading NodeBB. Wanted to post here for anyone searching.
Obviously take a database backup first (depends on what database you use) and change the exported version as appropriate.
git fetch; git pull; ./nodebb stop; ./nodebb upgrade; npm i; ./nodebb start; ./nodebb log

RE: Maintenance 16 August 2014
System is back online and, as you can see, we have been updated. We are now on the very latest Ubuntu codebase as well as the very latest NodeBB codebase (with the new inline editor.)
Keep an eye out for issues. We will need feedback as much as possible.

The update to Ubuntu 14.10 may take a few hours.
