    • How to start guest VM in VMware WS Pro 12 when host poweron (no signin)

As the title said: How to start guest vm when host machine power on?

I have VMware Workstation Pro 12, but I am not sure how to make it so that it will auto run when host machine restart or power on.

I have try sharing, but it said "vmware workstation server is not available". I also found vmrun, but it doesn't seem to be helping with automation at host poweron.

WITHOUT installing any other application, is there a way to make vm in vmware workstation pro 12 auto run?

    • RE: MacBook Air or Surface Pro 4 for beginning coding and casual use (youtube/facebook)

Thank you for all the replies.

I already upgrade his laptop with SSD, but the processor is just crap (IDK which one he had). His laptop is a low-end kind of laptop. He just want to kick things up a notch.

These two options were proposed by him. I do not have experience with neither, so I seek help from mangolassians.

The primary purpose for the air and surface would be casual use.
Why would surface Pro a bad option?

Some of you asked how did these two become the top choices? He wants something light that wouldn't feel like carrying a brick in his bag. If you have other suggestions please let me know.

    • MacBook Air or Surface Pro 4 for beginning coding and casual use (youtube/facebook)

So my friend is about to take some beginning c++ and R classes. His major is not comp science so this probably a one time semester usage. His laptop was purchased back in 2012... and take forever to load Windows 7.

He is now looking for a new laptop for his classes. His options are Macbook Air 13" (he has iMac as his primary computer) or Surface Pro 4 (128GB/4GB/i5). Both is about $900-$1,000 USD.

He's a casual computer guy. Facebook, youtube, netflix, hulu are pretty much it for him (as far as I know). Assuming the cost difference is not a big deal which one is a better option?

*He couldn't afford to wait for surface 5 because of his classes.

I tested with internet radio and it plays for hours without interruption, but with itunes library it struggle to keep up.

What a POS (the macbook/itunes part)! My music library will play uninterrupted across the whole house from a big, slow SATA drive.

      Did you use NAS option?

On the speaker? I don't think mine has that option, might be a gen 1 model. On mine, you just point it to a network share.

On Bose's app. There are 2 primary options. 1st is internet radio. 2nd is add a server. In Add a service there are options to add Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc... and connect to NAS and Using iTunes Library.

Yeah, I guess that's the option I used. I didn't remember it being called "NAS" though, but my memory sucks sometimes. I think my brain translates that to "network folder".

      I'll look into that option.
      Thanks for the tips

The nearest AP is right outside his door. He's getting full blast from that AP. However, he sitting right outside production area... with around 50 other people and 4 other APs spread throughout production area.

We are not 100% sure if wifi reception is the main cause. My guess is the problem lies with Bose's application itself. Because the application has to connect to speaker while playing music through iTunes library through Bose's application.
Here's a quick diagram: Speaker > Wifi > Bose's OSX SoundTouch app > iTunes library > and back the way it came from. Because the way the application is designed SoundTouch app seems to cache iTune library's music, then play it onto the speaker.

Now we have 2 factors to take into consider... the transmission from MacbookPro to Bose's wherever they store the data, and from Bose's app to wifi speaker. We do not know where is the problem, and want to eliminate Bose's application altogether.

    • Need advise on bluetooth receiver for aux speaker. Quality over $$$

Scenario: Macbook Pro + overpriced Bose wifi speaker + poor wifi reception = unhappy boss.

Proposed solution: Macbook Pro + (overpriced wifi speaker + bluetooth receiver aux) + poor wifi reception - poor wifi reception + bluetooth connection = happy(?) boss....

First of all, sorry for the poorly explained situation...
Second, I am looking for decent bluetooth receiver to auxiliary port. The Macbook pro 2016 has Bluetooth 4.2. The speaker in question is Bose SoundTouch 20 series II (without bluetooth functionality). Current setup is using Bose's OSX SoundTouch app to connect to the speaker, and play music through iTunes library... The problem is the buffering or lose connection every 30-45 minutes or so.

My goal is for my boss to play his music to his heart's content. We proposed a solution by eliminating Bose's application altogether, and go old school with bluetooth adapter instead. ** Auxiliary cable is not an option because he moves around in his often very often, and he likes to have his phone on him at all time. Same thing with Macbook Pro. So.. no cable **

I need recommendation for bluetooth receiver. I am looking for quality over price. Most receivers I found on Amazon is version 2.0 or 3.0. Some 4.0 is described as car receiver. Any thought?

    • RE: Real time update slideshow

      Sorry for the late response...

The photographer thingy is just an example. There is no photographer here in the office, and we'll be doing this "slideshow" for the next.... months... if not forever.

The slides will be update more than once per day.

The website idea seems good. I'll run by my manager to see if he likes it or not.

    • Real time update slideshow

I am looking for a way to present slideshow while update content in real time. Imagine a situation where a photographer is tasked with taking picture. He then save those pictures on the cloud. You are tasked when presenting those picture on a screen. How can this be done assuming that I cannot be there to manually add each picture every minute.

I deal solution is a slideshow where someone can add/remove picture or files once a day while having the slideshow keep doing it thing and refresh after or during each slide.

      Any idea?

This is very old idea... but there doesn't seem to be the perfect answer to it yet.

    • RE: iPhone 6 Plus dying... need new phone... suggestion?

Well.... after reading your comments... I will give iPhone another chance (also because Oneplus 3T is 3 weeks away). I believe Apple has 14 days refund policy or sometime so it doesn't hurt my wallet that much.

I had Apple since the 3G era.. and been apple fan ever since. But I do not see any major improvement on the 6s and the 7 beside slight cosmetic.. and processor upgrade. That's my thought. No denying iOS is a very good OS.

    • iPhone 6 Plus dying... need new phone... suggestion?

First of all... Cellphone preference is like taste is music. Different people will have different opinions and that is fine. I'll look at anything suggested... even the infamous Nokia 3310 😉

Upon reading a post by Breffni, I decided to look into Oneplus 3T. The reviews I've read so far are mostly positive.. with some negative, but they are often personal dislike than technical failure on the product itself.

However, Oneplus 3T is 3 weeks backed order... and no 128GB option as of yet (I like to take pictures of my pets).
So, I am back to drawing board....

I have iPhone 6 Plus 128GB... with multiple issues lately (mostly signal degraded). I do not want to go iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, because the direction of where Apple is heading... is.... questionable?
Any thoughts? Suggestion? I would greatly appreciate personal experience over "reviews". I like to know the good, the bad, and the ugly.

      Thanks!! ❤

I don't think these certs will get me far in my career path. But I do believed that it will help furnish my resume with couple of lines of text.

    • Preparing for 70-410~412 exam... Do you read any books or cram practice tests all the way through?

      I bought a voucher for 4 retests + 30days practice test from Microsoft/Mindhub.

I wonder if practice test over and over and over and over and over and over... again is enough to pass 70-410~412 (assuming I will tackle one exam per month.

These supposed to be basic Microsoft certs... so I don't think it is any harder than what I do at work anyway. But the ultimate question is do you read exam prep book? Reason I am asking this because First: English is NOT my primary language... Second: English (to me) is a crazy language... Third: I dislike reading these kind of book. 😛

Have anyone used these practice test before? The voucher link me to https://marketplace.measureup.com for practice tests.

No. I don't need these certs to advance in my current job... but the discount was very appealing... now I have to go through with it before it gone to waste.
