I get tons of calls and emails from them. Kinda dulls their image... I know they have a good set of services, but the overzealous sales staff makes me not want to give them money.

Awesome news!!!! I just got the green light for project "E-Ring Hyper-V - Virtualize the Infrastructure"!!! Of course, there will be a testing period (hello, test lab!), but I will soon start P2V-ing older boxes and decommissioning them!

I'll probably be asking some stupid questions very soon, stay tuned for all the excitement!

I went to the local Spicecorps meeting last night... 3 attendees. But I did win the door prize... a 3 pack of Ubiquiti WAPs, complete w/ the latest FW and a thumb drive w/ Unifi controller software.

I'm totally thinking about ordering some of these... who would buy one at MC '17? Who's with me???

Holy crap, I just found out that my ex-gf in Florida still has all my vinyl records!!!! And since we're still friends, she's glad for me to get them back!!!! I am very excite!!!!!

Let the latter half of 2018 be heralded as the time of RojoLoco!!!! I got my record collection back, got a raise, and FINALLY got my synth back from my homey!!! She's been around the world, and now she's back in my loving hands!

Just got back from a celebratory dinner because... My girlfriend finally found a job!!!! 6 months of bullshit searching, finally got a good offer. Same salary as her last job, but now with performance bonuses!

Album artwork is in hand!!! Off to the scannery after work to digitize it and get this freaking album released! And, side note, I found out a good friend of mine works in sales for Veeam. Definitely going to exploit that connection.

LATEST NEWS:

We have started moving all the kitchen stuff back into the kitchen finally! I have even cooked 2 meals in the new digs, and WOW did that show me how rusty I am at cooking.

The final touches that still need to be done:

• Install 1 new pantry door to replace the damaged one (worker dropped it)
• Install handles on all the pantry doors
• Install light fixtures and fan
• Touch up some spots on the trim

Ha he's a disaster. This was the only business in the world with guaranteed income and they still screwed it up. They had a contract with about 6 small HOA's in the area. They were the only cable company allowed to provide cable, internet, and phone (unless it was something like dish). They bragged about their FTTH setup, except they had horribly antiquated equipment that would break if you looked at it sideways.

They were upgrading their Minerva on demand system. Instead of migrating all of the data, they (he) just wiped it clean and installed the new system. So at 2:00 in the afternoon the VOD system went down, all of the movies were gone, and if you were in the middle of a movie too bad. So now the VOD content has to be downloaded again from their providers, BUT all of the old content that won't be released again was gone. So all of the Game of Thrones episodes that were released and weren't being released again were gone.....

They also literally ran their company off of an Access "database" that was designed by some lady who must have thought Access was some fancy spreadsheet application. The database only met the first normal form and that's because it's pretty much impossible to not meet it with a relational database. All of the notes for each address (they kept all of the information on houses as well since they did the installs and had some strange way of doing it) were kept in one memo field on each record. They printed out the actual form in access as work orders and kept paper copies. So when that giant memo clob was corrupted (which happened a good bit for many records) the only data we had was a printed snapshot of that memo field.

^^^ None of this is any surprise after you said "Florida". Down there, a stack of DVD backups in the microwave counted as "secure data disposal, in alignment with our contractual obligations and state laws". Not even joking. Didn't even have a dedicated "data disposal" microwave... just the one in the break room.
