Guest additions are a big deal. It should have sped up considerably after you installed them.

"oops, we totally blew it when we decided to upgrade the backend during regular business hours.... No, we don't know when it will be fixed."

That one is a pretty major best practice. Deploy off hours. So basic.

      Indeed it is.

    • Getting Your SO Into Video Gaming

Since @Dashrender and @scottalanmiller were discussing this in the YouTube TV thread, and I didn't want to hijack that...

How have you tried to get your SO into video gaming? Some games or activities are obviously more likely to be effective than others. What have you tried, what has worked, who video games with their SO, etc.?

Cockpit has come a long way in the last year or two. It's kind of leading the industry as far as nice interfaces. Still early without a ton of functionality, but it is getting better and better.

Another vote for Ubiquiti. Nothing wrong with pfSense, but there isn't any need for the cost and complexity of building your own router. You can't get good router hardware to put it on easily.

Does BB have a referral program? I'm probably going to switch from CrashPlan to BB if I like it, and somebody here might as well benefit from it.

      I think that they might.

@dbeato said in Examining unRAID Storage:

unRAID is really bad, I have posted many times in SW that I would recommend FreeNAS before I even get to unRAID. I have seen many bad stories using UnRaid.

I would agree with that. Bad to the point of worse than FreeNAS.
