RE: Is the CDW 3 year total warranty worth the money?
Only insure things you can't afford to replace. The only exception is if you get better/faster service with the CDW warranty.

Don't change your password on any system that isn't updated yet, or it will just get stolen again. There's a bunch of places that will tell you if a site is updated or not, including LastPass.
I'm not sure what the specific pointing out of LastPass is, but here's a link to their blog http://blog.lastpass.com/2014/04/lastpass-and-heartbleed-bug.html
According to them, your passwords were never in jeopardy because it's always pre encrypted before being sent over the internet, even thought it was going on SSL.No I mean LastPass will now check sites for you: http://blog.lastpass.com/2014/04/lastpass-now-checks-if-your-sites-are.html

RE: AVG CloudCare - How Do You Like It?
@Dashrender we have a web filtering product but we don't do anything in the email space. Our approach is to catch it at the time it runs rather than while it is being transmitted. Saves a lot of resources that way, since you aren't scanning every email.

RE: The Interview No-Show?
We had that happen with one of the members of the Webroot community. Vanished off the community, nobody had heard from him. We all assumed he'd gotten fed up or we'd offended him. Turns out he was in a really bad car accident.

RE: The Interview No-Show?
So did you find out what happened? That reminds me of my interview with Spiceworks story. I got stuck in Houston due to weather, and they couldn't guarantee that I'd get a flight the next day. I went and rented a car and drove instead and got in at 3am for an interview the next morning. I think that story helped seal the deal

RE: The Interview No-Show?
I'd hear his story out of curiosity, but unless it is a damn good excuse then he'd be out for me.

Why isn't Aaron getting them to post here then? They'd be great community members!
Dunno, I'll ask. I know they are involved with the reddit folks, and sponsor national backup day.

RE: Off Site backup solutions for the SOHO user. What do you all use?
I use BackBlaze at home and like them a lot. I've had to download my backups after I had a drive die and everything worked perfectly.
Fun fact: Aaron McCormack went to work there after leaving Spiceworks.

Still impressive, even if not that practical.

I put in a request to have that changed.

He wasn't CEO when he donated the money.Does that matter? He chose to impact his career and the board opted to allow it to have happened.
Just like things you say online or tattoos you are making a permanent decision when you do these things. Honestly it makes him an idiot and a bad candidate for CEO - it shows a horrible understanding of actions and consequences. Not a failing one wants in a leader.
So he does something long before he was a CEO. I've made some bad decisions life (who hasn't?) but does that make me an eternal idiot and unqualified to run a company?
He could have survived if he'd apologized. But he gave a non-apology, which means he's still a homophobe.

Good - I saw a good comment on reddit about it: Would there be this much controversy if he'd contributed to the KKK or something similar?
Who know's. I'm just leery of selective outrage.
What outrage isn't selective?
I'm outraged at everything!

Fluent in French. I lived in Strasbourg for three years as a kid.
