yeah they were also talking about how many police departments have paid the ransom.

typically it's something innocuous that we haven't seen before, and it doesn't need to be monitored. If you recognize the process and know it is good then go ahead and whitelist it. If you aren't sure support would be happy to take a look at it.

I watched a friend play Witcher 3, that game looks really amazing.
It is very well done - the controller input is a bit laggy, which takes some time to get used to, but everything else is polished to a high sheen.

It could be the network monitor itself that we haven't seen before - post a snapshot of the processes within Webroot and we can take a look.

You can do a report for "All Undetermined Software Seen" and that should show you if anything is being monitored. Then you can do an override for it on the Override tab.

RE: I get my new smartwatch today...posted in Water Closet
That's why I got a Pebble Time and not an Apple Watch. Buttons are ok on either side, but anything with dials is really awkward to use when you have the watch on your right hand. Because you're coming from the opposite side, the angle is all messed up and it's hard to get correct purchase.

@scottalanmiller one thing Webroot does if it identifies an unknown as malware is that it rolls back the changes, hopefully saving you the hassle of a reinstall. But I do understand if you want to nuke it from orbit anyway

RE: Apple bricks phone if not serviced by Appleposted in IT Discussion
I believe it's when you replace the touch sensor or the motherboard, as those are synced up at manufacture. If you don't replace them as a pair then the trust relationship between them is broken. If you allow a new touch sensor to be added to an existing phone then you can spoof the fingerprint read. I understand why they are doing this to protect your data from being stolen when someone has physical access to your phone, however I don't think bricking the phone is the correct response. Also the issue comes up when you upgrade the OS - before that the fingerprint sensor just stops working if it has been replaced. A better experience would be a warning before you upgrade, or preventing the upgrade altogether.

I just want the exact same UI as Windows 7, but with the under the hood upgrades, such as DX12.

Been solidly hooked on Witcher 3 for the past couple weeks. Been playing nothing but that - not even any Rocket League.

Backblaze keeps a ton of versions of files. I don't remember how many but it is a lot. Backblaze also isn't a sync client. It is a true backup client.
I'm just imagining the process of restoring 150GB of data as individual files. Ugh.
They'll overnight you a flash drive with your data on it for a fee, if you can't wait for the download.

hmm, maybe - we offer full support for trials, so that you can both get problems fixed and try out our support staff. It's worth at least giving them a call. After all, you'll never have more leverage than you do before you buy their product

RE: Home Wireless - Rewiring - Considering Ubiquitiposted in IT Discussion
Oh and I highly recommend powerline Ethernet, as I have the whole house wired on that:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CUD1M66/For anything that is near a plug and doesn't move, I pop one of those in place and I get great throughput. The only things on wireless are phones, tablets and laptops.
