@wrcombs they changed all the lighting here to these super bright LED's so even my dark little hole is lit brighter than the sun

Not so conducive for work. Bright lights are for factory workers. Dim lights are for white collar workers with screens.

I put in some adjustable LED strips in my office and have really helped with reducing my eye strain. I actually believe that it has reduced the frequency of my headaches.

    • RE: Microsoft Managed Services

The Forbes article is saying that it is aiming towards business customers first, which makes sense. More clients per business account means increased efficiency in making money. This leads me to wonder how long before potentially servers are licensed the same way.

Other companies are already following suite. For example, Veeam is starting to come out with their license per protected vm pricing model where clients would license only the vms that they want to protect, regardless of platform (hyper-v or vsphere) they are on. But they are just for 1-3 year periods.

Looks like Microsoft is continuing the march of turning all of its products into services. It is moving Windows 10 from a perpetual license to a monthly license, similar to O365-style of licensing.

Sorry if it has already been mentioned, but I searched for it. Know it's not hard-hitting sources, but it is what I have found so far.

Looks like Linux may be getting some more patrons.

That's not good for you or the company 😞

I had updated Veeam B&R to 9.5U3a and am having problems getting consistent backups ever since. I've tried calling support and they never got back with me as to the problem. So I am reverting back to 9.5U3 for the time being. 3a is not really needed for us right now as vSphere 6.7 is not in production for us.

@scottalanmiller Is this a fail on City Managers & Planners because they did not look forward enough to consider this and maybe implement mass transit of some type to suburbs? Or just couldn't have been foreseen?

I honestly did not read the article. Sorry if it was already mentioned. Just going off of yalls comments.

Even though O365 will work with Outlook 2010 with some help, you still want to strongly consider upgrading all of your desktops to Office 2016. Eventually, Exchange Online will drop support for Outlook 2010 and 2013.
Typically, your Exchange Online address will be <tenant>.mail.protection.outlook.com

I know, but it's a budget problem, while Office 2010 works with Exchange 365 and they don't let me upgrade the version.

ProPremium and up has Office 2016 built into the subscription price of O365. This isn't a budget problem, this is a management problem. Management being scared of change.

Oh wait he's snap chatting! I was trying to figure would what was going on...

      Pfft... well okay then...

Wished I could get an Intern... sigh... never happens though.

Same boat here. Production can get an intern. Maintenance can get an intern. But, nope, IT CAN'T get an intern.

@oksana Is there a way of pointing Starwind VTL to a private cloud provider instead of Microsoft blob, Azure AWS, or Backblaze?

It's not that easy. What API is that private provider using?

->Have you rebooted your computer? 1 for "No", 2 for "Yes", 3 for instructions on rebooting your computer.
      1. "Why don't you give that a shot and see if that fixes your issue? Otherwise, call back and press 2
      2. "Did you really? <pause><pause><pause> Okay, I'll put you through to IT"
      3. "In the bottom, left corner you will see a pretty little logo. Click it. It will show you another symbol of a circle with a line in it. Click that too. Bear with me, we're almost there. You should see a third menu. One of the options in that menu should be "Shutdown". Then go home. You're not smart enough to work here.

@nerdydad application-aware processing for Exchange/SQL./whatever else it is aware of?? If i remember you have to do some change on your Exchange/sql db properties to get this working, but it has been years since i used Veeam.

That was what I was figuring and why I turned them off. I am more wanting to recover guest file system level items so that users could potentially recover their own stuff some time in the future. Required to have working backups for business continuity. It is nice to have item-level recoveries.
