Got a coax network working with Ubiquiti AC Pros working well with Gigabit Coax to Ethernet adapters.

I had no idea that coax was still used in networking! Do you still have to use the terminators and all that or is this something different?

What's the impedence of the coax cable? (I think most older cable TV lines run on 75 ohms or something like that)

Nothing like that today. MOCA makes life easy!

TV coax is still 75 ohm. However, there is coax with lower impedance but with higher cost.

Just got my laptop back from Dell repair. Having to rebuild it back to its glory. This is going to take a while.

The six stages of workstation reinstall:

      1. The OS install went faster than I expected.
      2. There are a ton of patches
      3. How can it take 14 hours to download one version upgrade
      4. Finally ready to install software
      5. I know I'm missing something

Steps 6-429: Oh yeah, that is what I forgot to install.

      Its a life long process...

When Mexico was still in, the TVs were constantly on soccer with the volume full blast, but now that Mexico is out, the TVs are finally quiet. Funny how interest is lost because one team lost.

Haven't tried it, but I suppose you could script a sort of backup to that location.

Sure, map it to the local folder that is being synced with ODfB. I'll have to try that real quick.

Scratch this idea, unless you do a file-level backup. The only problem with file-level recovery is that you will not be able to recover the laptop if something was to happen. You will only have the files and not the OS. But, if you're just backing up the files, then you might as well take out Veeam Agent altogether and put the files on ODfB as is. Plus, Veeam Agent barks at the idea of backing up the system to its own drive, even though it is synced off-disk.

Who needs to back up a whole laptop? That seems silly.

Protects against ransomware and loss of data if the laptop is lost/stolen from a road warrior. Granted, you are probably going to say that the documents should be stored in the server and backed up from there, but users don't always think in protecting company data. And getting them to is more of a management task than it is a SysAdmin task.

How? The laptop itself is worthless data. Just install the OS again.

It should be, but often times, users will store valuable data on the laptop when they should be storing it on more preferred storage. Then, something happens and they expect IT to work miracles, such as reading the platters or something because they heard that it could be done.

You can use Veeam Endpoint, but it does require a license to backup to ODfB. That is more of a premium feature. Otherwise, you're tied to some type of local storage, whether on your network or to your PC.
