"I do this for all my clients"

Just because said person has done this a number of times does not mean that they've done it right a number of times and has just been lucky to get it to work this number of times.

For those like me who doesn't know vi very well, a reference sheet.

If you do a quick Google search, you will find a number of reference cards and sheets for vi from colleges and universities.
This is why I don't enter contests with Meraki as the prize. Its like giving somebody a satellite dish as a present.

First off the driver got out without any injuries. Second I had to deal with driving in the backup caused by this. That is how my morning started.
He probably needs a change of clothes now. Glad nobody was killed.

Yeah I was reading through the thread with @NerdyDad starting a WISP and saw that it was "out". I am interested in this thing for the sake of the technology at that price point. Quite amazing.
Not so much out for good, but I'd wait a couple of years, grow the business, and, when I am getting close to that point, I would probably upgrade then.

But the Enterprise always won.
No, let me clarify that for you. The CREW of the Enterprise always won. If you watch the movies, then Enterprise never hardly fared very well at all, but Kirk always got another ship somehow.
We are creating a Plan Z. We are taking 5 5-TB drives and are going to use them for annual, offsite, full backups. Each drive will be 1 year. I plan on putting in with them a set of instructions and a journal. We are going to be using Veeam Availability Suite. The drives will include necessary ISOs of VMware, Windows Server 2016, Veeam Availability Suite w/ licenses, and all necessary passwords and IP addresses. As January 1 passes, we'll take a full backup with a drive, note it on the log, and then store them all in a safety deposit box. Only members of management and IT will be aware of the backups, but only certain individuals can retrieve the information, if needed.
Am I covering all of my bases? Am I missing anything? Is this best practice or should we be doing something else?
Now, anytime I go to use PowerShell, I am tempted to use sudo
.
SANS Institute just published their monthly OUCH newsletter and this month was about the importance of password managers (highly recommended, especially to average users). However, at the end of their newsletter, they have a link to the "Top Password Managers of 2017".
Do you know what I DON'T see? KeePass! How is KeePass not on this list? I wrote a how-to on Spiceworks on how to run KeePass on multiple devices a couple of years ago.

I sincerely hope history does not look back and thank bookface for stopping the AI takeover of humanity.
Well, since they started it...
What I love is that Elon Musk is here trying to tell them stop messing with AI and Mark Z is like "Pssh, its fine. What could happen?"

I imagine you could use SW for this. Create a form with the necessary fields on the SW portal that would create a certain kind of ticket that would log the maintenance that you do on a device. Then just close it when either you are done or you return the equipment to the professor.
Shame!
What? He mentioned Spiceworks in the post. So I assumed he has Spiceworks deployed I know Spiceworks since I've used it before. Suggested a free solution that he could have done by the end of the day today.

That incitement bit has me confused - If I remember I might have to look into that more.
On the surface that seems to imply that if your speak incites someone to action, your speak is no longer protected... but I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that.
Essentially, speech that gets people to act violently against others isn't protected speech.
I tend to follow Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Essentially, I don't care what you look like. I care about how you treat yourself and how you treat others without expectation of reciprocal treatment. If we each treat others as human beings, the way we want to be treated, then we will all have a better quality of life for both our individuals and society as a whole.
So, first of all, DSL works off of POTS lines and needs copper, it doesn't go wireless. I'm guessing you are using microwaves or wifi for backhaul?
Next, since you mentioned a wall and not a tower, I assume the wall is where you are mounting this equipment, correct? If so, bear in mind that a cat 5 hurricane is 154+ mph winds. If I have a cat 5 coming in, then I would just go ahead and prepare my backup equipment to replace the equipment that I'm about to lose. Then call the insurance company for a claim or just write off the old equipment as a loss and buy new replacement equipment.
You're probably going to spend just as much for an engineer to hopefully design you a rig that can withstand that much wind.
