Is it right or is it theft/fraud?
So, we've been looking at new SAN technologies for a while now and have some bids in place. We have an idea of who we want to go with. We haven't purchased or announced it yet to anybody. Just talked about it internally. However, the other vendors that have submitted bids are inviting us to special events such as sports events or movie screenings.
This is more of a moral question then technical one but thought this would be the perfect place to ask such a question. I'm sure that the invitation to the event is only extended because we have talked with them about their product and have expressed interest. If you knew that you probably aren't going to go with a vendor that is sponsoring an exclusive event, would you go to said event?

Drinking tea like crazy here. Seems to help a little.
That sucks about the bronchitis. What kinda tea you drinking?
Lipton Blueberry Muffin or something like that.
Blueberry sounds good... not so sure I want my tea to taste like a muffin though...
Yeah, the wife bought these.
Licorice tea will help the most with congestion. It will taste atrocious (unless you like licorice), but it will help.
I concur... But it does taste atrocious... (and I like the taste of licorice, lol).
And I've never found anything that offsets that taste either. But it's medicine, so you gotta just get her into ya.
Just a few cups of sugar makes the medicine go down...
And the diabetes go up...

Reputable e-Waste Recycler in Dallas Fort Worth
Looking for a reputable e-waste recycler in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I am finding some around me, but wanted to reach out to see if anybody locally had any recommendations.
I contacted tech-away.com out in Royse City, but he doesn't seem too interested in coming and picking up nearly a full pallet of equipment.
I'm in Dallas, just north of Duncanville.

@scottalanmiller Give me a bit. Researching...{loading}
There is reference to the Buffalo Express newspaper having run an article on the hamburger before the Texas claim was even made. And the Texas claim was decades later and "oh I used to sell these" somewhere that no one can verify. The 1885 date in NY is verified as a public sale of the hamburger and predates the Wisconsin claim by six weeks. It's both the oldest verified claim AND the only one that makes sense given the name.
Now hold on. Germans have been known to have settled in Texas pre-Civil War era. This might be a stretch, but could have been developed and attributed to Hamburg as well. Its a stretch, but possible. Let me see what I can find out and get back to you.
Either I will concede publicly or come back with new evidence.
Bread and ground meat have both existed for a very long time. I suspect that we will never know and @RojoLoco and I will need to spend years on the road developing a theory while consuming vast quantities of burgers and lager
Besides TX. NY, and WI, we will need to visit the old country as well, to gather corroborating evidence from village elders.
nods
For science!
Could you take us on this adventure with you? Such as through Twitter/Periscope/ML/YouTube or something? Would also need a full featured documentary encompassing the entire story.
I need all of the facts.

RE: Replacing the Dead IPOD, SAN Bit the Dust
@scottalanmiller I likely won't put in my last spare drive unless I absolutely have to. My main end goal is to somehow migrate the data and retire the SAN. It went from 0-17% in about 3 hours. I'm going to let it continue and hopefully it will be done in the morning. I will check on it once I get back to the office.

Right now SW is making me sad because it is turning more and more into a cesspool.
Your about 6 months behind me here. Give it up, you'll feel better, and be able to laugh when someone cross posts the insanity.
I'm not actually on it anymore. Kind of gave it up when I came onto ML about 5 months ago.

RE: WiFi range extender requires wifi...
Cabling: One aspect of home networking that is far too often overlooking is implementing a quality cabling plant inside the home. This requires far more effort than other home networking projects and falls more into the electrician space rather than the IT professional space but is also one of the most important pieces from the home owner perspective and end user perspective rather than the IT pro perspective. A good, well installed cabling plant will make a home more attractive to buyers and make the value a powerful home network even better.

It's kinda funny to me... Here at ML, we have probably the broadest skillset of any IT forum out there... Since I've been here, I haven't posted on SW near as much either. I only log in every day or two to answer the stupid questions I get in email, lol.
Then you're doing better than me. I rarely visit SW anymore, unless I have to. I feel like I graduated to the big boy party around here. Digging deep into subjects and technical matters. Just felt that SW was a mile wide and an inch deep in technical content.

You are doing it wrong..if you cut grass before Easter, where is the damned Easter bunny supposed to hide the eggs.
Take the kids to somebody elses house and hide eggs.

RE: Free SharePoint?
Every aspect here sounds more like management not valuing IT. Nothing else you can really do here except to break out the resume before something does happen. Otherwise, you're going to be the scapegoat.

@wirestyle22 "lost" and had sucked out with a vacuum are two different things. . .
She can lose all the weight she wants, she's still a big pile of shit, that will never change.
I wouldn't know. I never watch "reality" TV
The fact that she was on reality tv makes her a piece of shit. I haven't seen that show, but if she spawned honey boo boo, then she needs to die.
Why watch a show on TV when I can see it at Walmart in real life?

@msff-amman-Itofficer said in Comparison of Salt vs AD:
This PDQ Deploy you guys have been mentioning, does it require an agent on the other Windows clients ?
or it just relies on Active Directory to work.No agent required. You can deploy based on AD, computer name, or IP address. AD is not required as long as you have local admin credentials.

Cause you'd have to go to walmart.
Where else can I get socks, frozen pizza, and spark plugs all in the same place?
Don't forget booze and condoms too.

ExaGrid
Anybody heard of it? Thoughts?
At a Veeam User Group and ExaGrid is sponsoring it. The salesman gives a nice presentation of course, but I want to hear from experiences people on this one.
