If this company were to hire a provider to improve / manage the IT infrastructure going forward. What kind of tools would the provider use for managing the workstations and servers (applying updates, installing software, etc.)?
Sky is the limit. MSPs tend to rely on RMM. ITSP tend to not and normally work with your tools.
MSP you change everything to work under them. ITSP implies nothing of the sort.
That makes sense. With the ITSP normally working with your tools, am I right in thinking that implies that the ISTP is designed to augment whatever IT staff you might have, rather than replace it?
Well either actually. We have gone into many companies and replaced staff that is leaving. In the same vein, we have gone in as overflow, or l1 or even Server Support only. Whatever combination is needed.

Reviewing resumes for my replacement.
So you got the job?
I did :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: .
Nice! I forget what the new gig is? Can you share details?
Joining the server administration team for the corporate office of Pruitt Health. They're a VMware / Hyper-V environment, so it's a chance for me to get experience with something new (VMware).
Congrats!

Most definitely agree with this, I appreciate what Mangolassi.it does and for @Minion-Queen. I think what gets us worked up about it is that there is an inherent unjustness to it and it just doesn't sit well. However, like @Minion-Queen said it is not worth our time. They are not worth our time.
Thank you very much!!

Good morning Happy Wednesday everyone.
"Good?" you must not have been outside yet, it's freaking cold!
Nope I don't have to leave to go to work. Which also means I have been working since 4:30am
Eww. Why so early?
NTG, GS, ML, TMQ all need things done all busy
One can be busy slightly later in the morning... You know -- around 10 or 11am!
Yeah then I would never get things done.

If anyone has blog posts they want to share or social media posts. Please feel free to post to your MangoLassi Facbeook Business page https://www.facebook.com/mangolassiit/ (as in please do) Also share anything you see us or others posting here, on our facebook or twitter pages.
Thank you!!
Community rules do apply here on ML still, one self-promotion post allowed per month. But the same does not hold true for our Facbeook Business page post as often as you like!
Working on finishing up 3 more articles for my new column I am writing then I have 10 weeks of content done!
Regardless of the rest of the discussion here. The new ML guidelines state that we will not be allowing anyone to post from that specific community any longer. I could care less if you post stuff from here there, but I do know your post will get deleted and possibly be put in account jail as well.
They don't want us posting stuff so whatever the reason legal or otherwise is not worth my headache or legal battle. I have never operated this community based on making a big profit off of you guys, so as you can imagine that is a big deal for me to not get sued.

Is there a way to incorporate an article/blog portion in addition to the discussion threads? It seems difficult to find things here overall, and there is some very good information that is harder to locate/sift through since it isn't distilled down to a how-to/article.
That's a major problem here. We had some very good discussions in the past, but sometimes it just seems that information vanishes into void. NodeBB features a great search function and content tagging, but that's only half of what could be needed.
What about a big "Community best practices" project. We could start to work out best practices based on repetitive topics, for example. How to create users? How to I setup XYZ. How to enable AD Recycle Bin... There's so much that could be collected.
Community Knowledgebase?
Maybe not just a knowledgebase but everything the average SMB admin could need.
We could tag a bunch of threads something specific for that and work on it collectively
Basically ... the Hitchhiker's Guide to IT
I like it!
@scottalanmiller might have a better on idea on that one @Kelly

I'll go ahead and ask the obvious question. What about personal blog pages?
I know having a link to a personal blog from Mangolassi.it is going to do more for the other pages rankings, but does everything little bit help?
Yes it does!! Also if you let me know about it I can incorporate things like that on the ML FB page as well. Help us both out.
I have been asked this lots of times today. How can you help ML grow and grow our SEO/reach?
Repost links to threads here on Facebook, Twitter and anywhere else (except for certain communities as they will delete the post) you can think of.
Make sure to use the Hashtags from the post whenever possible.
You can post directly from a thread here to FB and Twitter.
Just no posting content copied from there or links to/from there please and thank you.
I said people could message me that's as close as i can get to IRL
