Sounds cool. I nominate @coliver as the system administrator
My lad may become ML's youngest member
@Mike-Ralston admins some already. He built one in the NTG lab last week.
It's currently undergoing some changes, as a server cannot realistically be run with more than a few people without any plugins. I'll get right on working on it more, though!

RE: OpenGL Successor Coming
Hope this gets more traction than the last three iterations. But with DirectX 12 coming with full Tesselation support, I don't see how OpenGL can possibly keep up...

RE: Preferred Interface Devices?
@MattSpeller I'm a little disappointed in the Red's, I'll probably go Blue next time. And the R.A.T. 7 is fantastic! I've got large hands as well, and it's entirely adjustable. And if you're worried about pinky drag, you can change out the side-piece for one of the included ones, that has a shelf very akin to the one that's attached to the thumb side. Overall, a very comfortable mouse, despite looking angular, as you can adjust it to fit your hand very naturally. And the 8600 DPI sensor, Sniper Button, on the fly DPI changing, sideways scroll wheel, and fully customizable button layout, those just helped to seal the deal for me. The weight system gives you another level of customization, but the frame for the mouse itself is fairly heavy for what it is, so don't expect anything super lightweight.

RE: Preferred Interface Devices?
Corsair K70 Mechanical Keyboard with MX Cherry Red switches, and a Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 7. @art_of_shred I just did a bit of looking, and I'm not actually seeing too many trackballs that are decent. I mean, besides the ones with the mahogany ball and such Maybe you'd like a DVORAK Keyboard to go with that?

RE: Michael's Keyboard Broke?
So no Malware or anything, but my PC is being EXTREMELY slow, for no discernable reason.

Just watched most of the first Hobbit movie again. My BIL has a huge home theatre, so large it is a separate building from the house.
That's pretty awesome!

Since this is a gaming machine, I'm a bit surprised you went with the i5 and not an i7.
i7s price per performance really isn't there yet for gaming. Or at least as far as I can tell. However for an extra 100$ I could get a 4790K which would be awesome. Still considering...
For gaming, an i3 is barely fully utilized with most games. A few, like Metro: Last Light Redux, and Star Citizen will push well beyond that, and even some i5's, but the new Devil's Canyon processors should be more than good enough for the next 3 years, even the 4690K. All the physics simulation and such is done on the GPU (so long as you buy Nvidia), so as long as your processor doesn't cap PCI-E 3.0 8x, and it can do basic tasks, it's usually fine. RAM and GPU are what the games need large amounts of performance from usually.

RE: Online PSU wattage calcultors - Do you trust them?
I'd just look up the power requirements for each part, then add them together, then give yourself around 100 more than you need. Edit: To answer your question directly, not very much.

RE: Home setup

RE: Windows 10 and OneDrive
@garak0410 There are issues with the current version of OneDrive on Windows 10 (last I knew, about a month ago), but I suspect that it will be full and working by the time Windows 10 actually launches.

RE: What Are You Using Right Now?
@thanksaj It's got 16GB of RAM, AMD FX 8320 8-Core Processor, and an AMD R7 260X for the GPU, a 600 Watt Semi-Modular Corsair PSU, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD for boot drive, and a standard 1TB mechanical for storage. Boots in a little over 6 seconds

RE: What Are You Using Right Now?
@Minion-Queen Aww, you didn't even mention how kick-butt the rig you're on now is, either,

RE: PSU suggestions
@nadnerB The efficiency rating, 80+ Bronze, means that it's at least 80% efficient at 100% load. Every PSU I've used from Corsair has been an entirely hassle free and satisfying, and I can highly recommend any of their CM/CX/RM/AX PSU models from experience.
-
RE: PSU suggestions
@scottalanmiller My bad, didn't see this. @nadnerB Looking for a 550W or larger, huh? Well, how important to you are things like Modular Cables, Efficiency, and Fan Noise levels? I would recommend a Corsair, EVGA, or Silverstone PSU, I've had very good experience with all of them (Especially the EVGA, but you tend to have to pay a bit of a price premium for them). I've used Seasonic three times now, and one of them failed after about six months. They get really good reviews generally, and supposedly are very stable and have long lifespans, so I would say I just got an odd case with mine.

RE: Commercial Desktops vs. Whiteboxes
@scottalanmiller For what you want, you shouldn't have to spend more than $600, and that's if we put the extra money in to make it look pretty.
