RE: What Microsoft OS is best for business?
The ability to install on multiple devices is quite a selling-point for many, along with the online storage. They can have shared data on multiple different devices, something most people would love for business application.

Crowdfund Thread
I'm not sure what kind of response something like this will get, but I'm going to post it here. Friend has applied for every job in his small town in Spain, several times, and there's just no work. Can't afford to leave the area, parents not helping, etc,. https://www.crowdrise.com/thesavingofchrisandeloy

Power-On Passwords?
So I've been working with servers and such, and I need a desktop set up as remote access. I previously had issues with Windows liscence keys, but that was sorted out. The next time I went to turn the machine on to put in the correct key, and install Windows, it suddenly had a BIOS level 4 digit power-on password. This has happened to 3 of the servers I've worked on, a password randomly popping up when there never was one before. I figured that draining the power and removing the C-MOS battery would fix that, but even after an hour of it sitting powered off with the battery removed, the password is still there. Help, anyone?

RE: 4K vs UHD
@scottalanmiller I don't know who set the standards, probably FCC, ISO, EGA, etc., but they are indeed standards, and have been since they were conceived... Marketing teams may use them incorrectly, but that doesn't change that HD is a standard, as is HD+, FHD, UHD, UXGA, and so on and so forth.

@Mike-Ralston sure. Is it the same memory? That would be somewhat surprising.
I believe so, and I'll get all of the Windows updates for it and LMI installed tonight.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
This morning, been trying to get a free car I got a few days ago to actually start, an '04 Dodge Intrepid, and it's got sooooo many problems...
@nadnerB World of Tanks is pretty cool, and if you like it, but want a little more realism, and a lot more detail, if you're into stuff that's big on immersion and historical accuracy, try out War Thunder. It's free to play as well, and there isn't as much of the pay-to-win thing going on, and it's a little easier to get up higher in the game, because believe me, if you start grinding to get the better tanks, you'll dump THOUSANDS of hours before getting to the higher tiers.

Installing and Setting up Pertino!
Well, I need to do an install of Pertino on a desktop in my network. I literally know NOTHING about it, and if anyone has any guides or tips, that would be wonderful. I was told it was a complex process.

NTG's Lab setup breathes again!
So right now I've got a HP ProLiant DL185 G5 with 5 1500GB Seagate Barracuda drives in it, in need of having Opensuse installed on it, simple stuff. But then, I have three Dell PowerEdge R510's (set up as open-stack Ubuntu servers, not using any HDD's), that we're thinking we want to go with a MAAS Setup on. We have a Windows 7 machine that we'd be using to host any needed services, if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on using/configuring a Ubuntu MAAS setup, or any other suggestions for things we could use to quickly and easily build and move VM's? Any sort of opinions or advice on the subject would be very useful. Thanks!

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@wirestyle22 As far as resources, most of the guys (and a few gals as well) I know who do it are either self-taught, or took courses on electrical engineering, and figured it out from there. Good places to talk to people who know what they're doing are www.tapeheads.net, there's a few guys on www.headfi.org who know speakers, mostly as a byproduct of their obsession with headphones, and a decent place to get started is www.diyaudioandvideo.com. I personally learned what I know about electronics from pulling things apart and learning how to restore old tube stereos from some local and online people.
EDIT: One thing to note, speaker design as far as the cabinet goes is extremely understated. You get the wrong volume of air inside, by just a little bit, and it'll sound blown, or if you put speakers designed to be acoustic suspension in a cabinet that's set up for bass reflex.@brianlittlejohn LOL, so I'm not alone in thinking BOSE is awful stuff. I keep seeing old BOSE gear go for sky-high prices worthy of some really special stuff, and they sound awful.

RE: Late Night Hardware Foolery
It's even got a "stealth" 5.25" bay, the flaps open up when the disk is ejected. I was bored and I wanted to repair the machine anyways, but a GPU I was going to put into it didn't fit into the case it was currently in (hooray for the ever-annoying half-height PCIe slots...), so I improvised. Order pizza, anyone?

New GTX Cards!
So about five hours ago, Nvidia launched their new product lineup, the 900 series cards. It seems that they skipped clean over the 800 series, but the new generation is finally here! The flagship card (for now), the GTX 980, outperforms the Titan Black in all performance benchmarks for gaming, uses less power, produces less heat, isn't as loud, AND costs only a measly $550 as compared to the $700+ range of Nvida's last-gen flagship models. The card is plenty powerful to drive playable experiences at 4K resolutions, and includes a whole ton of new software and hardware technologies we haven't seen before. If you're more interested, check out this article here!http://www.anandtech.com/show/8526/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review

I was gonna get dual GTX 780 TI's to put in a system, but now I'm DEFINITELY going with two of these guys.

Wow, that's amazing. You must be feeling better after being sick from this announcement alone.
Hehe, wish it was that easy. I'm so hooked into the GPU market that anytime the tinyest changes happen, my email gets blown up by all the different vendors throwing me emails and such. So the amount of sleep I achieved was not very much...
