@wrx7m that vendor sounds like GE or UTC. These companies employ the most ridiculous procedures and requirements in the name of security. I think it all comes down from gov oversight, so dumbasses on top audit you, then you need to implement some retarded procedure that does nothing, but makes lives miserable for everyone you deal with.

The new monitor they came out with starts at $4999! Seriously, who the hell. . .
This monitor is not something you normally find on a desk of regular users. And its price is actually not that bad if you look at the specs. However, $999 for a stand, that's a new low (or high), even for Apple.
Yeah, I agree. Super accurate high end monitors are very expensive. But the stand? Is it electric? if not - Screw you Apple.
Even electric wouldn't justify the cost. Gold plated perhaps....
Gold plate? We're not discussing trump's bathroom. We're discussing an item that holds a monitor. . . Is it an articulated arm or just a classic stand like with the iMac's?
Does it matter? Neither would cost 1k.

Is there a threshold when going from Unicast to Broadcast?
Unicast is 1 to 1, broadcast in one to many, so with 3 hosts in the network you have broadcast.

I have Plex running at home and use it all the time for music locally. I have a Nginx reverse proxy set up but haven't tried to put Plex behind it for remote access.
Mine is behind Traefik reverse proxy. I'd give it a shot behind Nginx too, and throw Let's encrypt SSL in the mix too.

RE: Linux users with iPhones / iPads
@NashBrydges That's most likely direct connection. Plex uses UPnP and NAT-PMP to open ports on router, otherwise you simply cannot connect directly. If you stream through relay, that's where limitation is in place.

RE: Linux users with iPhones / iPads
@EddieJennings https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/
It has bandwidth limitations, 1 or 2Mbit, if you have bigger pipe where you host Plex, then exposing port gives you better experience.
-
RE: Linux users with iPhones / iPads
@EddieJennings Authentication goes through Plex, and I think you have to expose Plex port, but I'm not sure about that. You can access it through DNS record too, that's how mine is setup.

RE: FreePBX hardening ...
@IRJ The scenario described above doesn't look like automated attack, and it's rather unlikely bots would be exploiting PBX to make international calls.

How about using

to put these IPs in jail?Do you know that IP blocking is completely ineffective? I can have different IP in a matter of minutes, perhaps even seconds.

I stream from Plex. And if I really wanted to put it on iOS devices, I can since I have Plexpass.
Am I right in assuming your own media is hosted on a Plex server. If so, where do you host your Plex server?
Yes, it's hosted in my Plex server. It runs on my home server, with Google Drive as storage backend.

We will be backing up File Servers VM’s (2TB -3TB). Due to bandwidth limitations, I’m hoping to have offline backup and with an option to backup online when needed.
Let's start with the basics.... what operating system(s), what hypervisor(s), what file server(s)? There can be no meaningful answer without knowing even what is possible.
All M$ servers
Assuming Windows AD DC, Windows "Server" File Server, etc. Only the databases and LOB apps are really up in the air. Which of those are you trying to back up.
We want to backup in case of system crash. Or if we need to fire-up the server at head office.
You want to backup, just like humans want to drink water, it's essential to business survival, that's all the reason you need.
-
RE: Best Backup Solution for 2019
@Emad-R probably because at that size it doesn't matter if you're backing up just files or entire VM, the difference is probably within 2-3%. And restoring entire VM is much simpler task than installing new server, configuring it, and restoring TBs of files.
I'd like to see a Windows server that installs in 5 minutes. With Linux and configuration management tools you might be able to get it running in such a short amount of time, but if he runs Windows, forget about 5 mins, 50 is more likely.

RE: Backup strategy for personal data (non-business)
I use Mac at home, so Time Machine to external drive. Important stuff like pics, contacts, etc are synced to iCloud, and Google Drive. I also use Duplicati to backup important stuff to G Suite account.
