RE: Fleet laptops - what do you like?posted in IT Discussion
All Dell Latitude here and so far no major issues. Hard drive fail here and there. Our Standard build right now is a 5470 i5 with 500GB drive (we still get spinning rust, don't ask) and 4GB ram and sofar works with everything we throw at it

@nerdydad not really. You can install it on esxi but you have to run a "server" somewhere for it to communicate with and not direct to the host, kind of a proxy setup. I have the instructions someplace if you want

Secod for PAD, we've used them a couple times. For us, they're just a walk across the parking lot!

@dustinb3403 Nope, I'm the driver too! Actually the good thing is for 2 days a week we can carpool so it will be both of us going nuts in the AM. (She and I work for the same company but our hours are a bit different)

WIfe started new job today so the morning was quite the cluster trying to get both kids up, dressed, fed, off to school/daycare and get to work myself. This is going to be an adjustment.

RE: 1Gbps Fibre Internet Accessposted in IT Discussion
This is standard We had (ugh) Windstream fiber in our Greensboro, NC office delivered by AT&T. Was a 24 port switch with a fiber conected on port 24 and we used port 1 for our handoff. They wall mounted it so it wasn't a big deal

RE: I am going to start an ISPposted in IT Business
@NerdyDad Check and see if Cogent can come to your area. They have been very helpful with our Internet setup (we have an AS number and still had to pry-out of Verizon's hands our owned IP addresses). Also if Telia can get out there (have a PoP in Dallas) they have dirt cheap Tier-1 bandwidth. Wasn't someone on here doing a fiber mapping site as well that you could check?

We used to use VoipSupply.com but we are reviewing that as they were recently purchased by Sangoma.

are any of your time services running under a domain accoutn instead of Local Service? Sounds like a service does not have permission to update the time
