A topic in Self Promotion for ITSPs and their geographic area may be helpful to this group.

      ITSPs aren't limited by geography.
I know what you're trying to say - you'd like to see someone post where they have remote hands immediately if they are needed without waiting for a flight, etc...

Yes. That seems to be what most of us are missing with national support.

It's a free product with paid support available that you are not using. Keep your demands and expectations in check. You'll experience less stress.

We see issues like this with Outlook 2016 for MAC on O365 when there a more than 10,000 items (not necessarily messages) in TOTAL for the profile.

      @DustinB3403 Thank you.
I must say that I am a bit disappointed with Nextcloud. This should be normal feature.
We already had few serious issues with it (bugs with mainstream Intel GPU never solved etc.) but we switched to it due to pricing advantage.
However, I can't say it is as reliable as Dropbox, so far.

      What does Nextcloud cost?

      Our preference is:
      PDF X-Change Printer Lite

We started using PDF-Xchange Printer Lite when you could buy the full version independently. Now you can only get the full version as part of another product.

We currently have PDF-Xchange Editor (includes PDF-Xchange Printer Lite) on every workstation. Not sure if we could survive without now, it has become part of our daily tools.

Lands in the LOVE category you asked for....not the free category; not sure about Chocolatey.

    • RE: Windows 10 BSOD When Printing

Came in this morning to several end users that with kb:5000802 re-installed. I though MS took it down?

There is a PSWindowsUpdate module that can be used to block a single update, but it comes from Microsoft Gallery with is user populated and not verified by MS. So I m looking for another command-line-only wau to block KB5000802

If you're a brave soul, or want to go verify the module yourself, here are the commands:

Install-PackageProvider -Name NuGet -MinimumVersion 2.8.5.201 -Force
      Install-Module PSWindowsUpdate
      Install-WindowsUpdate -NotKBArticle "KB5000802" -AcceptAll

      Dymo's post about the problem.

      https://www.dymo.com/en-GB/software-fix

Removing the update didn't work for us. Still getting blank labels. Monday I'll check if that software from that article is a working version of DYMO Connect.

They've had a working version of the DYMO LabelWriter software out, but that doesn't provide an API that a website can use to print labels with, which is what this client uses the printers for.

We've had to fix this over 200 times this past week.

WHEN IT INVOLVED A PC WITH ONLY a DYMO, not every case had the KB5000802 update, so we just stopped removing that update and went straight to this process every time. It had work every time for us. If there was a Dymo AND a Kyocera, we continued removing KB5000802.

      • BACKUP UP YOUR Labels if you created any labels with a newer version of Dymo. 8.5.4 will not see than, but it will delete them.
      • Unplug the USB Cable from the Dymo.
      • Uninstall Dymo Software.
      • Load Print Management and remove the Dymo Driver and Package.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Open Print Management again and WAIT for the DYMO driver to go away (can take up to 3 minutes after the reboot in our experience).
      • Open Device Manager, Expand Printers and make sure the Dymo is gone from the Printers area.
      • Install Dymo 8.5.4
      • Plug USB cable back in.

This procedure has work every single time on more than 200 workstations this week.

All the more reason to move to hosted/cloud services.

True. In a normal on-prem scenario, the Admin to Company ratio is usually 1 to 1.

In a hosted/Cloud environment (MS365), the odds are very high that when an admin patches the server, it will be a 1 to MANY (and perhaps hundreds or thousands of MANYs!)

No less risk in a hosted/Cloud environment, but certainly more customer mail systems get patched faster.

      This talks about

gpmc.msc is the correct tool to use. (gpedit.msc won't display the security/services items)

I'm building GPOs on the server so I have to use gpmc, gpedit will not build gpos.

That article is good, I've been heading down each rabbit hole it reveals, It may be leading me to the solution.

Thank you for the link. I'll report back with the actual link that worked if I am successful.

    • RE: Another RDS server?

Age of server is a primary question to answer before deciding to add/replace/upgrade.

Is it a true RDS environment? Old Fashioned terminal server providing a server OS to the users?

What OS is on the current server? And if you add a server, what OS will it have? This may impact your RDS and Cal licensing.
If you are not adding users, and can maintain the same server OS on the new server, you will not need additional licenses beyond the Server.
RDS Cals and User Cals connect to any server in the domain their license allows them to. (Poor grammar, but I think you'll get it.)

not sure it's what you need though.

That is a good article, but it doesn't address Group Policy Objects at all. This is the problem I keep running into.

Google is letting me down. I can't find any information about using a GPO to:
      a) Enable Volume Shadow Copy Services (sometimes called: Previous Versions, and sometime inaccurately called File History)
      b) Turn on VSS with the default or a custom schedule.

Has anyone here done this via a GPO?

      Thanks.

    • RE: Google Calendar <-> MS Outlook (Stand Alone) Sync?

After much research and testing. I chose: gSyncit v5 https://www.fieldstonsoftware.com/software/gsyncit5

So far I am happy with it. It certainly resolved the sync issues I started having with Companionlink that they could not sort out.
It was the only reason I went looking for another option.

It's too bad they couldn't sort it out, I really liked the Calendar widget in their Android DejaOffice product much better than the native calendar widget.

So, our phones and PCs with any combination of Google Calendar (we don't use gmail) and MS Outlook are all in sync now (once again!)
