I was watching the traffic and was all like wtf, why is it using almost 400k where there is only a single call.

Then I was like duh.. 200k u/d from my phone to PBX and 200k u/d from PBX to Voice Pulse. BUt then I realized that one side is rx and the other is tx so shouldn't it still be 200 each? Then i realized I left the bridge selected, not just the eth2 (wan).

      Summary: Need more coffee.

so quicker easier would be just VPN and RDS.
Pertino and RDS in my opinion. I really do not think VPN is ever easier.

Adding Pertino to the mix is another reason to go with PBXin a Flash as well as the fact that I do not need any of the extra integration! just that they would be nice.

As this is a client that I am fairly active at, I do not care too much if it is not Elastix, but that is what I was planning to set up. The slowness of Elastix updating bothers me, but the integration of features makes it hard to resist.

As far as Spiceworks is concerned, why are you using relaying? I have an account setup on my Exchange server that SW logs into just like my outlook clients do.

It is logging in now, I was thinking to change that. I do not need to keep an O365 mailbox just for a product that I only use a little.

I thought you could have service accounts with O365? no?

You can, just was aiming for one less is all.

I agree, Snom and Yealink. But for softphones, the job is already done.

And it is already valid for my PBX since I use PBX in a Flash and that is on 6. This makes me debate my choice to use Elastix at this client though. As they have Pertino in place for a few things already (10 device account) I could leverage that for soft phones on the sales guys laptops since they are the ones with Pertino now. I would just need to use PBX in a Flash instead of Elastix. Hmmm

The 500 number helps, I highly doubt I will ever get over 100 in a day. I know there was no documentation posted, I was hoping whoever mentioned the 500 would post where they read that 🙂

It would be awesome to see Pertino move into this space as well! soft or hard phones with Pertino could make life grand!

We have soft phones with Pertino. They've handled that from day one!

No, they need to get a phone manufacturer on board and embed it.

    • RE: Would your SMB customers mount a server on their wall?

It is super quiet. You can barely hear it over the normal office background noise. I mean you can of course hear it if you stop and listen, but it is not intruding on the office noise level at all.

And yes the unit is cool enough. It moves a lot of air. That is why I put the plates in the front to force the air over the servers and not empty space., just to be safe though. I have to change the filters bi-monthly.

The owner at this client where I am demoing a PBX system has decided he wants a phone in his house in Cancun. Oh and he leaves Sunday.
Seriously? You haven't even agreed to my proposal to set up the phone system yet!!!
Guess I can take this as a positive that he will go forward on my proposal.

Going to have to setup OpenVPN in client/server move because I think the Yealink can accept the config file for that. I refuse to open an IP (or block since i doubt he has a static address) to a part time residence in another country.

Think I read a comment the other day here on MML stating that I do not need to use a relay for < XXX number of emails? Can someone point me out that documentation? I can set up a local relay if needed, but I do not have much mail come out of the local servers now.
Just a SW install and the PBX sending voicemail really.

Actually, I recommended a wall mount rack for the 1U Hyper-V server I setup at a client in November. They decided against it and went with a fully enclosed unit instead.

    • Doing an Office 365 Migration

Setup the Office 365 account for our company today and began the Exchange migration a bit ago.

Not sure what I am going to do about the client email stuff. I could just change the DNS for remote.bundystl.com to point to Office 365 but that will break all the OTHER stuff I have on the server. Lesson learned there, new subdomains for each application will be incoming. Though most of the stuff being on remote. was so I could reimport my 5 name SSL cert instead of buying a wildcard cert. I guess without needing Exchange on it I can handle it now anyway with a reissue.

I do have a hosted spam filter (appriver).

Why would the offline snapshot be different than an online?

Because the database (exchange store) is in a normal shutdown state and not being wrote to.

    • RE: Going from Exchange 2010 no Sp to SP3 - concerns?

I have done it once, But that was an offline snapshot made when the VM was shut down, so there were no repercussions.

My understanding of VMWare is it works as long as all the tools are up to date, but I would not take my own word for it. In your situation, I would shut down the server and make a snapshot. then do the upgrade with the inbound email disabled at the firewall so the external spam filter caches everything. That of course assumes an external caching spam filter.

Edit: and of course not in before @scottalanmiller 😛

admins (plural) should not have rights
the singular administration account should have access to everything and its use logged.

edit: seen your post. if that is already the case, then I would take ownership. but that could cause butt hurt or other ramifications if done without proper CYA

      1. stop port 25 or turn off transport service
      2. make snapshot
      3. go for it
