I use PDQ Inventory and Deploy Pro. It's become one of our lifelines here. I am not sure we could live without it now.

Android is loaded on cheap devices, too. But a cheap device with Android is an absolute dog. Even people who aren't the least bit techy will grow to despise it.
Bought a $100cdn tablet with android a couple years ago. I think it lasted a week before I parted it out for the scrap bin
I just bought one on Amazon for $48 with a 9 inch screen. We'll see...lol
$48 for a large battery, screen, digitizer (touch screen bits).... not a bad deal

As long as it plays Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I will be happy

P.S. I used to have a neighbor that used solely green energy. They used wind and solar on their house. We lived on the west bank of the lagoon which is ideal for wind ( bad for boating), but good for energy.

I read the Knowbe4 Blog Daily. I love it!
I saw this attack on there this morning.
I signed up for the email summaries. Great blog site.
I love how their blog articles are technical, but also include a summary for non-technical people.

Internet Explorer... No explanation needed. I am sure there are other browsers, but IE is terrible.
Last I heard Opera was the only one that wasn't based on IE. I think even that squirrel browser or whatever it's called is based on IE. So really IE is your only option, and I think the phone version is worse than the desktop version if that's possible.
Is it worse than the Windows 8 Metro version? LOL
It might be a tie. It's so bad. That was probably the biggest reason I couldn't stand using my Windows phone other than the lack of apps.
And the apps that do exist look like they were made by high schoolers.

Android seems like a really bad choice for high security applications, like military. Custom Raspberry Pis with super locked down Linux general purpose OSes would make more sense.
Any consumer cellular devices period, I can easily triangulate a cell phone with very little hardware investment.
Do we know that they were consumer phones? I didn't look into it. You can put Android on non-phones, too.
True. I was assuming because the malware was able to stay in contact somehow. Might have been on a dedicated military network with just 1 connection to the outside.
Very interesting article...
You don't have to hack hundreds of phones. Have 3-5 important android devices may be enough to nearly paint a full picture.

Ouch. That is very impactful. Anyone here seen it happen yet?
We were hoping for a sample to try in our malware analysis lab, but I cant find any yet.

No surprise there. It's just the NVidia Shield in a different box. Nice for what it is, but really underpowered.
It's rather odd that we have such a low standard on consoles vs other hardware. Tablets are obsolete at 6 months old, but console are still relevant at 6 years old.
From the impressions I got, the Switch is mostly tablet anyhow...
right, except you get alot less hardware for your buck.

RE: Some New Macs Risk Bricking from Third Party Repairsposted in News
puts on tinfoil hat... adds extra foil just to be sure
I have a serious problem when a device cannot be audited by a customer. If you want a sticker fine, but sabotaging the device is insane and should be illegal.
Could you imagine a car that stops running as soon as the oil is changed? Ok maybe the oil is ridiculous example, but what about an alternator or a steering column?
**tightens tinfoil hat even tighter **
So 10 years from now when we have hundreds of iot devices on a single home network, you cannot even do hardware audits of your devices to make sure there isn't extra hardware performing functions it shouldn't aka spying.
But hey corporations would never do shitty things. I can't think of a single corporation that's got caught doing something it shouldn't

@IRJ PayPal are space pirates on getting money back. Beyond that assuming he does what I do (link it to a checking account that is kept at zero $ and is a clearing account) you can't claw back anything even if they try (My bank will bounce the request). Escrow fights are just not worth the time for $150.
I have had great luck with Paypal. They will give your money back even if the guy who takes it has zero. I have dealt with Paypal many times and have been on both sides of disputes.
Unfortunately I didn't pay with Paypal. Anyway, I don't understand why a vendor this that it's funny that I lost money and a month's time on my website.

LMAO, some funny stuff, for sure.
I feel like this should be a much bigger deal.... What possible justification could there be for this?
