I'm giving them some serious consideration as a tool for auditing and would like to hear the IT stories or reviews if anyone has one to share.

Could a boycott kill Facebook?
Boycotts can be extremely effective - as Facebook is finding out.
In the late 18th century, the abolitionist movement encouraged British people to stay away from goods produced by slaves. It worked. Around 300,000 stopped buying sugar - increasing the pressure to abolish slavery. The Stop Hate for Profit campaign is the latest movement to use boycott as a political tool. It claims that Facebook doesn't do enough to remove racist and hateful content from its platform. It's convinced a series of major companies - including Coca-Cola, Unilever and Starbucks - to pull advertising from Facebook and some other social media companies. Meanwhile, other online platforms, including Reddit and Twitch, have piled on more pressure by taking anti-hate steps of their own.I hope this kills facebook, or draws it back to a shell of it's former self.

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
I bought Kerbal Space Program over the holiday, along with Tron/Run and a couple others from my wishlist. Now, I just need time to play.

Login Flower
I just had a user ask me if the picture used to login on Win7 could be changed, so I showed her, and then she asked why it didn't use the same picture from AD. I found that to be a very good question. Has anyone gotten the login ID picture to be synced up to AD?

I suppose it was inevitable.
I was once interviewed for a job where I said I preferred nano, and this offended one of the people there. I can use vi, but I also like not having to look on a cheat sheet for less-often used commands, whereas I've used pico/nano since the 90s when it was part of pine.

Have you ever been sitting next to an ignorant arsehole who is trying to justify his own bigotry and racism by spewing out ignorant, racist, ridiculous, bigoted words, so much so that you wanted to choke the life out of their worthless body? That's what I did for lunch today. I even resisted physical violence... I even resisted the urge to tell him what a pile of shit he was. But if I knew what he was driving, he might have 4 flat tires when he finished lunch.
Whoa. You had lunch next to the President-elect? I applaud your restraint.
Edit: to be clear, I'm only happy that you would restrain yourself in this situation for no other reason than it would be a shame for you to go to jail.

I've had the opposite experience and have done better at organizations with no internal contacts.
Well, depending on how things go tomorrow, I may be headed down that road.
I know about quite a few openings in the Orlando area that are actively seeking employees. It may not be ideal for you, but lower cost of living and no state income tax.
But then you'd have to live in Florida...
That's the biggest problem.
Better develop a taste for bath salts
More like get used to taking a bath by stepping outside. I've been stuck in summer down there with no A/C before.
NJ is just as bad
Nothing short of a guaranteed mil/yr with a golden parachute contract would make me move to NJ. That place is an armpit, and I've been to El Paso.
It's the asshole of america imo
No, that guy has orange hair.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Now: looking up Dell MD specs because I want to know if what the storage IT guy here is proposing is accurate; a raid 1+0 being slower than 6 raid 1s with a pool defined to use all of them, which sounds f***ing identical to a raid 10. This storage guy makes my head hurt because I really disagree with how he makes things so complex.

VMWare Mirage PXE?
Has anyone out there performed a PXE boot to a mirage environment? Did it require a separate WDS server?

Now that we have Internet, we are working on unpacking and getting things set up around the new house. Dominica managed to get a hot shower, I had an ice cold one We have very limited water here, which is going to be a huge pain. But the wine is excellent and the Internet seems decent right now.
Obviously then, the resolution is simple: bathe in wine, OR drink all the wine before bathing so that you'll never notice the cold water.
A more complicated solution would be a tankless heater.http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/2900000/hedonism-bot-futurama-2942551-500-375.jpg

RE: Pure Accelerate conference - Worth going to?
I always any attend any conference that I am able to attend, except where I don't attend as a reason of principle. If you're getting the time from work, and they're footing the bill, frickin' go! Even if you're not super interested, you can attend some sessions, learn some stuff (if you learn at least 5 new things, it can be worth it), and you can network with your peers. Maybe you can drop some mangolassi business cards, not to mention the swag and prizes.
