@Dashrender Hi, sorry for the delay.

How are you deploying your printers through GP? Should really be doing it by computer not user for most setups, because it is based on their geopgraphical location moreso, than the user (normally)

I am not a blogger either, find it hard to do that kind of thing.

Nope, can't do it at the machine level because most of my machines are laptops (65%). It's more dependent on their location.

How did you get on in the end, did you find a solution?

I don't but they look very good. I am considering one and replacing my Nexus 5. Would be good to hear how you get on. What was the other competition you looked at?

Should it be notifying me when someone has responded in a thread that I have replied on ? Or should it only notify me if someone quotes me?

My project today is to get my i7 Mac Mini backup and running for nested ESXi installs using AutoLab to create my lab. Hopefully should be ok.

    • Exams

      Hi there,

Who is studying for what here at the moment?

I've done the VCP4 Install Manage and configure course, but never managed to take the exam. I now have to do the what is new course, so I can do the VCP5 Exam.

I have also done the VMware Design course, which will hopefully enable me to do the VCAP5-DCA/DCD course if I can.

I've done the VMware VSP 5.5 course (reseller course but I dont belong to any company yet) and going to work through the other tiers.

Done the basic VCA-DCV, going to do the VCA-Cloud and VCA-WM when the exams are cheaper or free again.

Mainly focusing on VMware/Virtualisation and then the new MCSE including Office365.

A lot to get done 🙂

Maybe 'I can meet a few fellow geeks so share labs and so on, here.

      🙂

      Thanks,

      Gabi.

      Current projects:
      Deploy new DL380 G8 with ESXi 5.5 u1
      Migrate VMs from old host
      Migrate from Server 2003 R2 to 2012 R2

and replace 40 workstations running XP with win7 and win 8.1

Any more info on this project? Want to know how you are getting on, did you put anything online for geeks like me to read?

Love VMware stuff, and love hearing how virtualisation projects are coming along.

      Thanks,

      G.

    • RE: Webroot

I used to use Webroot about 5 years ago, finished about 3 years ago.

We used it mainly for Web Filtering but we had so many issues.

Two main AV's I have liked using is Sophos and Kaspersky.

Kaspersky's v10 was killing out desktops, including Windows 7 with 4GB ram and i5's, which is shocking.

Didn't find a replacement as left the company but Kaspersky did promise that it could all be sorted.

Issues where happening until end of 2013.

Back to topic. I found Web Root customer service shocking, but might be different now.

Just signed up, on the admin section it is asking me to choose which package I want. (hosted)

      $0 Standard
      $24 Professional
      $54 Enterprise.

Surely it would have been fixed by now?

I am used to Spiceworks, this looks rather clunky.

Will need to have a play with the SW.

Thought it would be rude not to add something on here.

My name is Gabi (Short for Gabriel) which means I do not have breasts and a vag, full bloodied male. (some times people get confused and of course, disappointed when they see me walk in)

Originally from Spain, moved to the UK when I was 8 (sound English now) and moved near Melbourne (Australia) in January 2014.

Erm and that is about it, like all tech stuff 🙂

      Thanks,

    • Who's paying for this?

      Hi,

Just wondering how this project is being financed/who should we be thankful to?

Obviously this software costs money, then you have the servers and so on.

      Intrigued that is all 🙂

      Thanks,

    • RE: Newbies, love 'em or hate 'em they are the next gen...

I think you get people like this in every field.

      I've seen it in Insurance/Medical/Travel.

Depends on the person, you will notice that they normally generally have issues, doesn't matter if it's authority/ranking/what ever. 🙂

I still classify myself as an IT newbie, been doing it professionally for 11 years.

Sometimes, you do get these arrogant little so and so's, but they might be excellent at some certain skills, which you might not be.

It's about guiding people accordingly and making the most out of who they are, kindly educating them that there are certain elements about them that can't continue.

Sometimes, there are also these people that you go out your way to really help, support them, sometimes without them realising, ensuring they get looked after. Then they think they are god knows what, throw it back in your face and in some kind of fashion aren't faithful/are backstabbers, so watch out for those 😉

      Nevertheless, best of luck 😉

    • RE: Anyone using more than 2 monitors

At my old job before I left I had dual monitors.

Two 22" wide screens. I didn't like it very much compared to two 4:3's ideally 1600x1200 resolution but can't really get them anymore or they cost a fortune.

At home I had/have 1 x 30" Apple Cinema Display (linked to my Macbook pro, but do not like having two different size monitors, so keep the lid closed) and I do not like it. It is too big, I find my eyes moving too much if that makes sense, even though I am quite far apart from the monitor. Managing various windows seems easier on dual screens for me.

I am currently looking to change this setup to dual screens, seen that dell have the new slim bezel, still widescreen which I do not like, but might consider that.

Another change I will be doing is moving from OSX at home to Microsoft. I prefer the management of windows and dual screens on Microsoft.

Do you prefer 16:9/16:10 or do you prefer 4:3 for IT work (not movies)

      Thanks,

      G.

(I've used the word "Windows" when I am talking about the different elements such as finder/browsers and so on. I've Used Microsoft when I actually mean the "Windows" OS, but I didn't want to confuse the terminology and keep it consistent.)

What kind of language is this.

This isn't appropriate, it's supposed to be nice and friendly in here.

      There is no need!

Here to guide, try to help each other and or general banter, language like that is abusive and irrespective of being in a forum it should not be used!

    • RE: Working out, no diet.

Wow is all I can say.

      Some great transformations.

Diet as well as "working out" is what will make changes to your body.

You do not need to be a nutter and cut everything out, but do eat things in moderation.

Look at the mediterraneans, have olive oil in everything, have carbs in a lot of meals, wine/beer and some are still in great shapes.

It's eating fresh/none crap food, if possible make your own bread/your own pizza/pasta if you like that kind of thing.

Avoid if possible pre-made foods on a daily basis.

Nice steady paced walks, take up an activity such as swimming and things like that will help.

Being at the gym 2 hours a day, every day like a crazy person is neither good for most of us and or normal + boring.

      Good luck 🙂

    • RE: Not always about the certifications and or "brand" of worker.

      @scottalanmiller cool.

I will do some research and get up to speed.

Is it a big community actually managing this project?

I'm a bit upset I did not hear about this before, at least I am here.

It is very light weight, I can see that from the coding, I like the font (I am a bit funny about fonts) very legible.
