Hi,
Just wondering how this project is being financed/who should we be thankful to?
Obviously this software costs money, then you have the servers and so on.
Intrigued that is all
Thanks,
G

Wow is all I can say.
Some great transformations.
Diet as well as "working out" is what will make changes to your body.
You do not need to be a nutter and cut everything out, but do eat things in moderation.
Look at the mediterraneans, have olive oil in everything, have carbs in a lot of meals, wine/beer and some are still in great shapes.
It's eating fresh/none crap food, if possible make your own bread/your own pizza/pasta if you like that kind of thing.
Avoid if possible pre-made foods on a daily basis.
Nice steady paced walks, take up an activity such as swimming and things like that will help.
Being at the gym 2 hours a day, every day like a crazy person is neither good for most of us and or normal + boring.
Good luck
I think you get people like this in every field.
I've seen it in Insurance/Medical/Travel.
Depends on the person, you will notice that they normally generally have issues, doesn't matter if it's authority/ranking/what ever.
I still classify myself as an IT newbie, been doing it professionally for 11 years.
Sometimes, you do get these arrogant little so and so's, but they might be excellent at some certain skills, which you might not be.
It's about guiding people accordingly and making the most out of who they are, kindly educating them that there are certain elements about them that can't continue.
Sometimes, there are also these people that you go out your way to really help, support them, sometimes without them realising, ensuring they get looked after. Then they think they are god knows what, throw it back in your face and in some kind of fashion aren't faithful/are backstabbers, so watch out for those
Nevertheless, best of luck
Hi,
New here, thanks to Scott !
Used to be an avid user of Spiceworks, that might change.
I see a lot of people really pushing for Certs or a "kind" of person but I think a lot of companies are missing the trick.
Sure, you could be waiting a long time to employ that guy/girl who has all the skills for x wage, but what if they never come, your business could suffer? and even if you employ them, they could not be suited or cause too much friction in the business.
Sometimes it's better to use your judgment accordingly and give some people a go, based on their attitude, how they come across in the meeting and willingness to learn?
so many jobs ask for VCP/MCSE/ITIL/Dell/HP and many other accreditations and whilst some people have it, someone just as good could be round the corner, that could be up to speed in X amount of time, at a fraction of the price at the start and could exceed expectations.
Of course, you have to be smart, put clauses in contract and add a longer probation period, including if they leave before X they need to pay costs, but that is understood in other industries such as pilots......... Some have 4-6 year tie in periods and too right as the training is very expensive.
This is just a general statement from me, just think more people should be given a chance unless something really specialised is required
Apologies for the boring first post .......
Thanks,
G.
So apparently google glass is available for everyone now (US)
The price should have been slashed really, apparently according to some reports I have read, Google are losing money with the pricing they are at the moment, yet another company in the UK state the parts are £47 ?
God knows.
I like the application, saw a video earlier with pilots using it, for their checklists. I thought that was amazing.
However, it is too expensive and too early. Plus you look a bit silly for a normal person.
I did like the application for the Fire Brigade, that was excellent. Building plans, how to cut open a car (weak points) and so on, that was brilliant.
I for sure, will not be buying it. I like the idea, but it's too early for me.
All has been said really.
If you have windows, use WAMP. Will aid in making things easier (if you want)
If you have a mac, then MAMP.
No real need to learn how to setup mysql and all of that, it is nice, but since hosting companies are implementing one click installs, time better spent learning other elements.
Personally, I LOVE wordpress. It's superb, the communities are great and so many resources as outlined above.
All in all, good luck
Let us know how you are getting on, will be good to see some examples, even if on screen grabs
Thanks,
G.
Crikey, you know what to say if you get asked out for a drink then. No!!!
I had an interesting scenario about a month ago, my friends are still laughing about it! Strange people everywhere!
Hi,
There is an issue with the daily digest.
Apologies if it has been mentioned before, not coming up on the search via my phone.
The URL's include the port number of the threads and thus doesn't work..
If one is to remove the port number manually the URL works fine.
An example of the URL thats on the email;

Hi there,
Who here has a Synology NAS?
Just wondering how you have yours configured and how you're getting on with it?
Everyone obviously has different methods of deployments.
I have a 1513+ and been using it for a while, had it in the UK and brought it over to Australia, not many people know about them here strangely enough.
Have deployed several and they work very well for low end stuff.
Do you use yours as a centralised storage location?
Do you use it to backup your home computers?
Do you use it for streaming movies, along side Plex?
Do you use it for music?
What other uses do you have for it?
Many thanks,
Gabi.
Currently building a special website for a special company
Hopefully they will like it.
After my allowance today for that, will be doing more VCP studying.
After that, cleaning the house, currently the house biatch since "working from home". Hate these duties.
Hi,
Why are the threads I am making duplicating?
Seems like it is happening to others.
I am not refreshing the page, or doing anything more weird than usual
Thanks,
G.
A bit of a mess.
E3 is the least, that comes with the software.
To be honest, it's a pretty good deal
I don't know if you can use the Office licenses with RDS (back in October 2013 you could not) but that's something that interested a lot of people.
There is a lot of vagueness with which product comes with what, not totally transparent, but will get there.
Good luck
ok today a bit more productive.
Dropped wife off to work.
Went to a meeting for a local IT company/web company, who will be hopefully subcontracting some of the work to me, which will be good.
Also meet up with a client who was potential, but they have signed me up to provide training for 2 hours a week, on general wordpress/twitter/linkedin/facebook elements as well as helping them a bit with their site.
I'm now around 85% complete on the client site I mentioned yesterday, been putting in quite a few hours on this to ensure all is ok.
Need to still get cracking on with the VCP exam, I need to finish studying and get that bloody exam done.
Now, going to Nando's and having a beer!
@minion-queen Thanks for the reply hope all is well your end. Thanks, Gabi.

Not replicating the ioSafe / Synology currently.
Maybe some of us should replicate to each other, save on costs and a good exercise.
Hi there,
Over the last many years, I have been meaning to do something with the domain I bought for myself.
It was going to be a simple holding page with a CV, but I have decided to change it slightly.
I've decided this will be where I will collate all the information of what I learn and if possible, document it on here.
As well as general blog posts for solutions I have found, I will also be posting my study guides and the materials I have used, for the exams I will be doing over time.
Additionally to this, I have also compiled some practice tests for the VCP5 (no real questions) and will be adding to them, including Configuration Maximums and anything else I can think of (please note, question sets have been acquired from other people and thus the wording is not my own)
Over time, I am hoping this will be a small library of useful information.

If you guys/girls could have a look and provide me some structured feedback, on where things go wrong and or, recommendations, that would be superb.
I have not tested it fully yet.
Thanks a million,
Gabi

I dig it. Do you write content?
Not at this moment. Hoping to do so.
My writing style isn't a conventional method, too honest and direct which can be shocking for some.
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far.
I'm going to expand on it and put some portfolio stuff, companies that I do work for and so on.
I really want to elaborate on the exam material and hopefully it could help others. I know exams don't mean much but after a long spell of not getting any done, its a self achievement award for me.
Let's see how I get on.
