It is for sure, they talked about it at MangoCon

The Hyper-V and KVM hypervisors are no longer supported in StarWind Virtual Storage Appliance.

DataCore's Hyper-Converged VSAN. Apparently quite reasonably-priced but I haven't heard much else about it.

Took a quick look, I don't like that it's a 100% Windows even in its VMware flavor!

      Not sure what you mean.

Datacore vSAN in VMware ESXi is 2x Windows Server 201x vm's (not 2 Linux vm's)

I see, it's not an appliance but you deploy Windows then install it?

They actually have a PS script that automates the deployment of both Windows Server vms.

For those of you with 2-3 node Scale, Starwind type HCI: are all your VMs run in the cluster or do you run a service like AD or backup vm on a separate host?

OK..wonder how Starwind HCA/vSAN compares to VMware vSAN!

Only requires two nodes, is available for free, has some really breakthrough tech, is cross platform, Network RAID vs RAIN, etc.

Forgetting the number of nodes (for a minute), are you saying it performs better than VMware's vSAN?

@PhlipElder said in Spec'ing a new computer from Dell or?:

The goal is to run the system with two virtual machines:

      • VM0: Domain joined and work apps
      • VM1: Not domain joined with all personal apps

This user is a power user with the need to keep things separate. The OS will be Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit.

For a personal rig, we'd flip the workstation board and Xeon to a desktop mATX board and a Core i5 and the NVMe drives to 760p or 600p series. Cost would be substantially reduced.

      Just curious...why can't the o/s be F30 with both VM's running in Virt-Manager?

These are all Win 10 pc's.
At a price of $1,600 for a 1 year subscription, this doesn't seem to be money well spent?

There really need to be a setting for this in the Workstation GUI.

By default Fedora Workstation + Cinnamon uses dnfdragora which is a totally separate process.

      Yes, I realize that.
This setting exists in Cockpit, no reason why it can't be in WS!
