    • Cisco Aironet 1830 Issue with HTTPS Interface

      Hi,

      We have this Cisco Aironet 1830 Wireless Controller and it is PoE and it controllers other WiFi children.

      Since we got them they ran fine and I was able to access the web interface from it is IP.

      Now for whatever reason I no longer can access the Web HTTPS interface, however I can ping it and SSH to the device successfully using the same IP

      When I go home will work on this after working hours, will try to reboot it from SSH, but any idea why I no longer see the web interface, and is there anything i can type at the SSH interface that can toggle it back on ?

      Sorry I familiar with generic Wireless AP like TP-Link And ASUS, but not Cisco

      @scottalanmiller

      I think I got it working with Ubuntu LTS 16.04.2 currently installing the system will see how it goes, however it does make sense that OS needs to be in-charge of this.

    • Unable to create One Big RAID 10 prior than Centos ?

      Okay here is the scenario, I can ofcourse create this after Centos gets installed, but I want to do it prior, I reckon the superblock can provide all the details and information for the OS.

      Using Parted Magic this works 100% and the that OS created the RAID array and was able to see it and mount it correctly everytime.

      However with Centos I load up the installer, I switch to terminal prior when I see the installer screen, and I can create successfully RAID devices with the mdadm tool, but Centos installer is not seeing it no matter what.

      I was able to mount it under /mnt/raid 10, but I had to create that mountpoint manually, when I do normal mount command it states entry is not found it /etc/fstab and even If i created entry this is live OS session if I rebooted it wont be there ? Also under /mnt I dont see the 4 disks I recall seeing 2 folders system installer and another one.
      the devices are under /dev/ folder. I see /dev/sda and /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc/ and /dev/sdd also /dev/md0 which is the RAID i created but it is not allowing me to install on it.

      Logically am I doing something wrong trying to do the mdraid prior than the OS ?

      The easy way out is install the O.S on its own disk (without RAID) then create RAID with the other drives, but this way I will need 5 storage disks and not 4.

      The issue is basically when I go to the Centos installation and click on Disks it shows me the 4 disks separated.

      This is not production environment, testing and learning Virtualbox

      Thanks in advance.

      MD RAID

      People rave about the new features of BTRFS so I thought can I do it for a new production server in 2017, perhaps I thought by now we will have more people tested it.

      Interesting information in all of your posts, and Noted I wont use the fake RAID and had my eye on either the ;
      H330, H730
      Depending on the price, I know H730 will be superior cause of cache.

      Umm It will be RAID 10 hyper visor that will have couple of VMs for Linux + MySQL web application

      Also since I am doing this, one idea popped in my head, which is theoretically OpenZFS and BTRFS do not require raid cards, the free aspect of this solution got me excited.
      Is BTRFS on 4 drives RAID 10 gives the same safety as of RAID controller ? Performance can suffer I am realistic.

      This 2015 link have some info, but dont know if it is still valid:

      Hi,

      Thanks for your support, secondly check this link.

      http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-r230/pd?oc=pe_r230_1346_a&model_id=poweredge-r230

      Notice under Tech Specs it states:

      RAID Controllers
      S130, H330, H730, H830

      What does this mean, are all those are bundled with the server ? seems very from the truth.

      Or it does only support those types of RAID adapters, and does the server comes with only of the RAID adapters ?

    • RE: What is considered 'cheap hw raid' vs 'good hw raid'

      @momurda

      From my experience, you are correct about the fake raid terminology.

      Fake RAID = is the raid you do on the chip-set level without any dedicated card doing the works, but it fools the operating system that gets installed on-top of it, and does not require any special config from the OS side. I think you can do fake raid for RAID 1 for important workstations like the HR computers for example.

      Software raid = is like mdadm in Linux or Windows 10 storage spaces, it relies on the OS side for everything.

      Read RAID or Hardware RAID is getting a good RAID card.

      It is not big deal but I am starting to avoid installing it on weak clients, it seems that the latest .net 4.6.2 creates some kind of overhead on slow machines, I cant 100% verify or test it accurately but the registry of course becomes big and that needs to be loaded every time in memory.

      This is 2 screenshot showing .net 4.5 vs 4.6.2 uncompressed size

      I miss the old days of .net 4 client profile and other one for developers called full, the client had only 180 MB install size.

      It seems latest .net have all the Windows Apps Tax, the useless tools for windows store and stuff.

      Also kudos for Microsoft for being able to stuff 1.6 GB file in an 60 MB file.

      @scottalanmiller

      but dont you feel like beta tester for unstable updates ?

      and I agree with the fact with faster releases the learning curve is adaptive and smooth, this was evident for me cause I picked up Centos only when it was ending like started at 6.8 series or 6.7 then they updated to 7 and for someone that was just learning the ropes, they did change alot in the 7 series. For me it was better I liked the new systemctl and dnf but I am sure older folks that are used to old method hated it cause of the change factor.

      t I told him lol, but be nice to have a spare if I can fix it lol.

      does fastboot.exe devices respond to the device if you attach to your computer via USB device.

      and download Minimal ADB and Fastboot tools

      And run adb.exe devices or fastboot.exe devices

      does it discover any devices or shows null

      That will be starting point. also note when its stuck in boot loop it will be hard to get it to recovery or fastboot mode cause the device is restarting instead of shutting down and then powering on, and some devices can only reach recovery from shutdown state only and not reboot state cause it skips the possibility of booting to recovery for faster startup, can you remove the battery of the device and then put it back in and try :

      I've got a Motorola (why did they have to sell to Lenovo of all companies!) G4 Plus, the one with 4GB ram that nobody reviews. It's been so much better than even my Nexus 5 was.

      True, while Lenovo still are making new phones with the brand like Motto M
      http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_m-8299.php
      But still it is scary to buy from Lenovo, reviewers said that the Android OS looks and feels like stock like the usual but now we cant be sure, Lenovo have habit for injecting weird crap that you cant remove.

      For me I am liking and loyal to HUAWEI , I actually like their ROM, sure its not anything near Android stock, but I like the extras, I found them professional and helpful and non intrusive.

      Had P8 Lite for 2 years and now NOVA Plus, and happy with the new phone. The only thing it is missing is WiFi ac and dual band but for me that is not an issue
