Long story short, I'm emailing the MSP and my Boss this morning to get more information on what needs to be done, and haven't heard back, that was about 30 minutes ago.

If they are anyway decent Provider, they should be prompting the Boss every 4 hours at least, they should be offering to ship a new drive to site to take a working backup.

Maybe if you had awesome government sponsored media like the US you'd be able to see the news.

Awesome and government sponsored are never 2 things I would put together for a news agency.

The article felt a bit limp personally. Not sure what value was gained by reading it. Feels like 2 grumpy people moaning about a place.

i was waiting the whole day but i know that in US it was early morning, we receive support from US engineers and not other part of the world

Having just seen these and in reading your responses to other threads, you might want to think about looking for an IT Support company in your region who is on the same time-zone, who can give you the consistent support you need.

After all, we're only doing this for free 🙂

Keeps more money in the local economy, encourages new startup firms who could then export their software in competition with what else is out there.

Just look at how badly broken Cisco products are thanks to the NSA. Should we still trust made in America companies?

Might be worth adding a media retention policy, I imagine you do the same for video which is far more expensive to store the raw, so add it for photography.

    • "Choice of" interactive story games

Been playing these games on and off, quite handy to be able to jump into a novel, mess around with the story whilst sitting on a train ect.

      https://www.choiceofgames.com

A lot of the games are free to play for the first 3 chapters.

If you have seen the film "Chappie"

Then you might enjoy the game "Choice of Robots"

      @gjacobse said:

Sounds like you need to develop a valid argument in which they are misinformed. If they want to waste money on a process and hardware that will not give the performance or redundancy - keep moving forward.

My valid argument to their argument boils down to 2 words, No Sale!

@JasonNM - If you don't go with NTG, if you engage another consultant, have them sign an agreement which prohibits them from reseller agreements or sales on your behalf, you'll need the right legal phrasing but for any prospective consultant, lay that out up front.

    • RE: New Ubiquiti Unifi Switches

I've got various EdgeSwitches in production, the only reason why I went for Edge over Unifi was because there were ONLY POE versions of the Unifi switches for double the price.

Now that the Unifi non POE line is out, That's what I'll put in if the performance/features are the same.

      @Dashrender said:

Yes, but as previously mentioned, keeping email for the sake of keeping email is pretty bad, especially if it's likely to be subpoena'ed.

This is assuming that your company is or will do something bad, so let's make sure there is no evidence lying around.

It sounds like, let's get rid of the CCTV in case our CEO is caught on film doing something naughty. Don't understand the logic behind this.

The main problem I see with that is that the Unifi switches will require the Unifi Controller to manage them.

But that's exactly why you'd want them. No other reason. If you want stand alone, don't touch Unifi gear from for any of their products.

@Breffni-Potter If things don't change, I see it happening exactly like what is going to happen in Wall-E. We won't have any choice but to leave the planet behind.

I suspect it will happen like Fallout.

Whether Space Travel can be practical for a sustained period or not, the mega rich/powerful will build elaborate high tech bunkers to survive if they cannot head to space.

The question remains, did the SMB care about those features?

My latest client really couldn't care less for any of the features. At the old price they might have gone for it, at the new one, not a chance.

    • RE: Google screwing over users

Ignoring the fact that Googles actions are to stop people evading tax law, making it sound as if Google on a whim, off it's own bat, decided to be difficult.

The reseller and customers were exploiting a loop hole for years, that loop hole got plugged. Every other company would do the same thing and has.

"Don't mess with the google" - The over-all tone of the post is anti Google even down to the title, Instead of warming me to NextCloud, it pushes me away.

      The article should read.

"Tax dodging reseller is clamped down on by Google after years of abuse, offending users lose their GSuite accounts as Google makes an addition to their terms of service"
