@Minion-Queen i had to do that as well for a remote office. That was fun for them to understand that they just wasted their money on something that is not business quality

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
i am trying to coordinate a printer install at a remote office. I still have to build the print queues and setup the GPO to install them. Oh joy

@scottalanmiller there isn't an image or link so to answer your question it's nothing

RE: Considering the new plans AT&T and Verizon - will you consider buying a non branded phone?
all i know is that i stayed with the 2 year contract plan on verizon and here is why.
- Cheaper, we each have 2 gigs of data (all that we need) and only pay $60 per month
- We both went with a customized Moto X and payed just $0.01 for the phone.
If we went with the Verizon Edge plan, the phones would have cost $16.66 / month x 24 months is $399.84 per phone x $130 per month in voice/data with 4 gigs = $3919.68
If we went with the Verizion More everything plan it costs $.01 per phone upfront x $150 per month in voice/data with 4 gigs = $3600So not only did i save up front on the cost of the phone i am saving $319.68 over the two years.
You get ripped off when using the next/edge plans and you are still under a contract no matter which way you go unless you purchase the device outright.
edit:
If we went with the Verizon Edge plan, the phones would have cost $16.66 / month x 24 months is $399.84 per phone x $130 per month in voice/data with 10 gigs = $3919.68
If we went with the Verizion More everything plan it costs $.01 per phone upfront x $180 per month in voice/data with 10 gigs = $4320So in this case with 10 gigs of data it is cheaper to go the Edge route where you will save $400.32 over 24 months. With higher data usage the price goes down for Edge and up for More Everything.

This is basic spy stuff, right? Also, even if they did cooperate, they have to say they didn't.
Right. For all we know, everyone one if us has been contacted by the NSA. None of us are ever allowed to tell each other, though.
very true, it is smart from a PR perspective to deny deny deny, however we all know that it happened and they have now been caught. I am interested to know if any other major providers are going to be outed for doing something similar.

Latest Snowden leak reveals the NSA intercepted and bugged Cisco routers
interesting to see if this is true or not. Knowing that it's a snowden release i bet there is some validity to this. Cisco has stated that they have never cooperated with the government to weaken products.

RE: Moto X
I got mine on monday and so far i love it. Crystal clear calls, easy to navigate the menus. Not to much in terms of bloatware, just the standard verizon stuff. Depending on what phone you currently have transfering files is easy using the Motorola Migrate app. It uses nfc and transfers pictures, text messages, calls and so on to your new device from your old.

RE: Varidesk...this is a must have!

and to top it off, giving away a $300 camera just to get people to watch vendors webinars? Really, you have to bribe IT people that much just to get business/exposure?
Why else would someone voluntarily sit through all of that marketing?
valid point, but i still won't even waste my time unless its something I am currently working on. Lure me with an expensive camera to waste my work time, not so much.

RE: As If We Couldn't Have Another Example of Why We Need A' la Carte Cable TV
@scottalanmiller completely agree however my money is now allocated to my roof (which might get replaced due to the hail we are about to get) electrical upgrade and replacement of a window. So the nas will have to wait

RE: As If We Couldn't Have Another Example of Why We Need A' la Carte Cable TV
@scottalanmiller yes, yes it is, but the price point for me is just a tad high (according to my wife)

What is Plex?
It's pretty awesome. Also available on Synology DSM too
yeah i forgot to add that. I wanted to get a synology nas to take the place of my quad core tower (that is complete overkill for this situation) and my wife vetoed that

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
waiting for new phone to show up. I keep refreshing the fedex tracking page but it still hasn't flipped over to delivered. Once it flips I am heading straight to my shipping department and picking that thing up.

@Dashrender https://plex.tv/ it's home media server software. I love it. setup was easy, connects with a roku app, android/ios apps available (fee applicable) connects to my network tv, non-smart tv over dlna. Stream movies and music to my tv, tablet (internal wifi). I haven't tried the plex app for android yet since I don't have the port open on my firewall.
